Best Laid Plans

Hey, it’s Maria.

On Monday morning I got the kids off to school. My plan was to clean up that mess of knitting stuff y’all saw in my last post. But first I had to do a little blog surfing. I found this. Thanks to the Happy Zombie, all my good intentions went out the window. I only have a couple of charm packs in my stash, but Holly Jolly was one of them. I’m a huge Moda fan, and I do like Sandy Gervais’ style. (And we both have wonderful husbands named Bruce!) All this to say that by the time I had to go get the kids, I had this pieced. Isn’t it cute with my tacky feather boa wreath?

Right after I picked the kids up, the UPS man showed up. On Friday I placed an order with Fat Quarter Shop in Texas and it was in my house in Minnesota on Monday. I opened the box, and realized I had ordered a jelly roll (40 2″ strips of fabric in a roll) of Holly Jolly. I can’t believe that between Friday and Monday I’d forgotten what I ordered. Good grief! At the rate I’m going, I’m going to be able to fill my own stocking and be surprised on Christmas morning!!!

Anyway, I decided I needed to make a matching quilt for my railing. That way I can decorate my railing for Christmas in 30 seconds. No more garland and lights for me. I chose this pattern, which I don’t own. So I had to do math. Fast forward to this afternoon. I have all 24 blocks done.

I’m going to make my quilt a little different than Sandy’s pattern. I’m going to put the black stars between the blocks. I’ve had so much fun the last two days. The next problem is that I’m going to want to put these on my quilt machine. Maybe my knitting stuff can stay a mess for a couple more days.

And now for another cute puppy shot.

This is her new napping spot. My blog partner isn’t going to be happy because I have dog photos in two posts in a row. But that’s tough, because until she blogs, she can’t complain. You know what the worst part is? She’s been knitting. A lot. I want to see what she’s up to!

Hey, Lexi, you wanna know what Grandma got you for Christmas?

Cute puppy shot should be framed, too! And, hey, Lexi — where are you!??? (That’s OK, get A’s on your finals!)

Oooh….pretty quilts! Alas, I cannot drop the Christmas knitting to quilt because all my quilting stuff is at my house in WA and I’m in Montana (in the process of moving).

Love your blog, be it knitting or quilting. Or the puppy! I’ve been wondering if your puppy is a Maltese?

I love your Jingle Jolly Maria!!! I LOVE all your projects. I’m so in love with the Holly Jolly fabric – and clearly so is the entire planet. I better get some more before it’s all gone!

    xo,
    Monica
