Contest, Cleaning, and…

It’s a contest! More on that in a minute, but first I have to show you something ugly!

Here’s a before and after of the knitting mess beside my bed. Here’s the before:

Yikes!!!

And after:

I had Department 56 houses in the shelves. They were moved to make room for all my knitting books. It’s not perfect. There are assorted knitting bags dumped behind the quilt rack, and there’s still knitting stuff in the window seat. I wasn’t going for perfection. I was going for organization. I can find my stuff now.

I cleaned up another mess, but in between I worked on this:

My Waves in the Square Shawl. In between cleaning, I’d sneak in a row or two on this. I wanted it done this weekend, but it’s not going to happen. I am on the last chart though. Here it is after Nascar this afternoon:

The other mess I had to clean up was the other side of the bed.

Some knitting gnome came in while I was sleeping and dumped yarn all over.

It’s clean. Oh, wait! There are a couple things on the footstool. I think it’s contest prizes.

Just to review: My next post is my 100th! I can’t believe I’ve had that much to yack about. Here’s the deal. Leave a comment and let me know:

1. What you like about the blog.

or

2. What you’d like to see or hear about in the blog.

(If you don’t like the blog, please don’t tell me. I have 5 kids that love to tell me what they don’t like. That’s enough to keep me humble, thanks!)

Here is the prize.

You will have a choice of the Arans and Celtics book, or the Tempted Sock Yarn. (If you’re from Loops, please don’t be offended. I absolutely love Tempted sock yarn. It’s just not a color I’d choose.)

You have until 10 PM on April 1 to leave a comment. I will number all the comments and one of my darling children will choose a number.

Oh, and the and… part of the title. We’re under a heavy snow warning for tomorrow. We could get 6-8 inches of snow. We haven’t had a snow day this year. I don’t really want one now.

The first project this week is to clean up the guest room.  (Mom’s coming!)  It’s not as bad as my room, but it’s time!

I’ll see you Tuesday or Wednesday with the 100th post!

Question Answered

First of all, thank you for all your advice. I really like the look of wood for my sewing room, but I was afraid it was going to be cold. I thought I’d like the feel of carpet better.

So what am I going to do? I’m putting in wood and I’m going to look for a runner. A carpet runner is the perfect size to put on the floor the length of my countertop workspace.

The wood is chestnut, and it’s quite a bit harder than oak. The photo isn’t quite accurate. There is less yellow in my wood. Don’t you just love my floral carpet???

It’s contest time!!! My 100th post is coming up. (And you’re still reading all about my extremely boring scintilating life.) So, leave a comment and tell me:

1. What you like about the blog.

or

2. What you’d like to see or hear about in the blog.

(If you don’t like the blog, please don’t tell me. I have 5 kids that love to tell me what they don’t like. That’s enough to keep me humble, thanks!)

The prize will be yarn. Duh! I’ll tell you in the 99th post (the next one) what the prize is. I’d tell you now, but I really haven’t thought about it. You have until April 1 at 10 PM Central to leave a comment. I must be a fool to let you comment on April Fools Day.
Has there been knitting? Not much. Last night I finally sat down and knit for several hours. My legs were still so stiff, I didn’t feel like moving any more. I worked on my stealth project. I’ll show you the yarn but what it is and who it’s for is top secret.

This yarn is Tempted Glam Grrl, color Eclipse. It’s a sock yarn that’s merino, silk, nylon, and silver. Yes that’s real silver.

I’m not sure I’m loving the project, but we’ll see. You want to know where I got it. Why, at Loops, of course.

Now I have another dilemma. My first Year of Lace project showed up a couple of hours ago. Since people are complaining about spoilers, you can look right here if you want to see my yarn wound. If you don’t want to see it, don’t look!!!! The color is is little off in the photo, but I thought it was hilarious that it’s the exact color of my nail polish. Is that God telling me to start on it? That’s my dilemma. Do I start the project, or do I finish my Waves in the Square Shawl? Guess what I’m thinking?

Let me just say one more thing, and then I’m off to start my new shawl finish my Waves in the Square Shawl. I’m sick of reality. So, therefore, I’m going to take a bunch of my UFO’s off of the sidebar and put them back to sleep. I don’t want to look at that long list every time I post. I’m fully aware of all of the crap beautiful projects that I have going. So, no, I didn’t finish a gazillion things. I’m just deleting them! I like my reality!

Quick Question

What would you put on the floor of your sewing room? If you look back one post, you’ll see the nice sedate wallpaper I hung. My cabinets are natural maple.

My question is, would you put in wood floors or carpet. Why? Leave a comment because I have to make a decision. The carpet in there now is green with peach flowers. Blech!!!!!

And since I can’t stand to do a post without any photos, here’s a photo of my sewing room in January, the only day it was clean in the last year.

That was before the big red flowers. So, here’s your chance to give me your opinion. Because, after all, I did ask for it. I only want your opinion about the floor though. The rest you can just keep to yourself!!!

Oh yeah, and I’m so stiff I can hardly move. Wallpapering isn’t for sissies. You should see me go down steps. I look like a Weeble (if you know what that is, you’re over 40). Weebles wobble but they don’t fall down!

I Think I’m Stuck!

I just sat down, and may never get up again. You see, I wallpapered my sewing room today. I used muscles I didn’t know I had.

My 9 year old decided to be my photographer. I had to delete a lot of butt shots! I didn’t mean for my clothes to match, but it just worked that way. I went out in public like that twice! First I needed more sizing and then I couldn’t find my level. Fortunately, I didn’t run into anyone I knew.

I was on a ladder on top of the countertop. That ceiling is about 12 feet high. I’ve run out of both papers, so I can’t finish. I really like it though.  Wow!  Those flowers are bigger than my head.

I have to show you one more shot of Lexi’s Spider’s Web Shawl.

In case you don’t remember, I blocked it for her about a month ago. She didn’t really want me to mail it to her. She’s pretty happy with it! She should be too! It’s awesome.

I’ve been working on my Must Have Cardi, my Waves in the Square Shawl, and I started a stealth project. I usually don’t knit for anyone except family, so it’s a surprise. And no, it’s not a Mother’s Day gift for either mom. Sorry!!!

Here’s a final parting shot of Montana.

Have I mentioned how much I loved it there?

Tomorrow: Clean up messes in this house!!!
