30 Minutes

That’s how long I was dressed today. The rest of the day, I stayed in my pajamas. I only got dressed because Kid 3 had worked hard and earned a new X-Box 360 game. Oh, and I needed chocolate and laundry detergent.

Our back yard is gorgeous as was the weather today.  My flowers are really taking off.   This photo is on the desktop of my computer.

I love the way the light glows through the petals of the flowers.

I’m going to make a list of things I could blog about next week. I was going do a longer post, but the battery on my camera is dead. It could never figure out why people have that problem so often. I have a spare battery and always keep it charged. Until this week.

So here’s the list:

1. Kids first pool day of the summer.

2. Laundry room. The price I paid for knitting too much lace.

3. New yarn that’s been showing up.

4. New lace project (with beads) that I started last night.

5. Two color quilt challenge that I’m going to work on this week.

6. A beautifully prepared dinner that I’m making this week?!?

7. Lace projects for Seasons of Lace.

8.  A plea for ideas to keep 5 kids busy this summer.

9.  A plea for ideas to keep the mom of 5 kids sane this summer.

10. Lap by lap details of the Nascar Race. Just kidding!

I’m off to bed.  That should be easy since I still have my pajamas on.

What a Day This Has Been!

And it’s only two o’clock in the afternoon.

I was awakened this morning by Kid 5 saying, “Mom, the water from the toilet is running all over the floor.” Yeah, it was. And down the hall and into a register. Good thing the heat isn’t running right now.

I made two trips to school for stuff.

I splashed half of a can of tomato sauce down my shirt and jeans while making chili.

The last cup of flour added to the mixer went “poof” in my face. (Oh, are those chocolate chip cookies good!)

But look what came in the mail today.

I’m really in the mood to start more lacy stuff. With beads, of course.

After the week I had, I may just sit in the corner and drool, and string beads, one at a time!

I Was Never Going to Do This Again!

I was never going to post a bunch of WIPs again.  But I’ll play True Confessions for the Seasons of Lace group.  If you haven’t heard of Seasons of Lace, let me tell you about it.  Three of us got together and decided to set up a group for lace knitters.  There will be prizes and contests and inspiration.  If you’re interested, check out the Seasons of Lace blog.

So, without further ado, let me show you 10 lace projects, half of them red.  How did that happen?

Waving Lace Socks:

A tunic knit with Rowan Denim.  I’m almost done with the body.  Then it’s just the sleeves.  This one won’t qualify for Seasons of Lace because it’s more than 50% done.

The Josephine top from Interweave, Summer 2007.  I think I’m deluding myself with this one.  Unless I alter the top, there’s nowhere for the girls to go.

Anybody up for some beads?  This is the Peacock Feathers Shawl.  I added beads for bling.

And, a barely begun shawl from Year of Lace, a club I’m a part of.  It’s knit with Claudia’s Silk Lace.  It’s really slippery, and I’m going to have to string a lifeline occasionally, if I have even 1/4 of a brain.

This lovely blob is Irtfa’a by Anne Hanson.  I’ve been getting some pressure to add beads.  I just may!

Up next is another red project.  This is a test knit for Susan Pandorf.  Her version is just stunning and has a gazillion beads in it.  The pattern for Iris will be available in June.

I love this sock.  The pattern is Loksins.  The yarn is Hazel Knits.

And, last but not least, is Katherine Hepburn, embellished with beads.

Oh, shoot!  I just thought of one more.  I forgot the Morning Glories Shawl by Anne Hanson.

I was supposed to let you know which ones I would be working on for Seasons of Lace.  However, it’s not June 21 yet, so I don’t know either.  I won’t know until then what I’m in the mood for.  Who knows, I may start a moron project just for this!  There are some ideas floating around in my little brain!

Oh, and Kid #2 doesn’t have a broken arm again.  The radiologist that read the MRI didn’t know that she’d broken it a couple months ago.  The orthopaedic specialist said the previous break would show up on an MRI for a year. So, just a splint, because she really did hurt it again.

And I spent $389 on groceries tonight.  That should hold a family of seven for about 4 days!  Just kidding.  I stocked up on meat and freezer stuff.  I really hate buying groceries.

Since this is the worst post I’ve written in a long time, I need to give up and go to bed.  I’m going to dream of sleeping under a cloud of lace.  (That’s a clue!)

I Really Need To Get A Life!

400 beads.

One skein of Handmaiden Sea Silk

Swallowtail Shawl pattern by Evelyn Clark

Started Friday at 9:30 AM. Finished Monday at 1:30 AM. Yes, folks. That’s 64 hours. I really need to get a life! Actually, I need to get groceries and do laundry.

I really love this thing, even if it’s pink.

My assistant loves it too. Maybe I need to make another one. Can I skip the beads though?
