Alert! Fashion Trend Update!

I’ve made an executive decision.  All mens sweaters from now until the end of time shall have 3/4 sleeves. What?  You don’t like that idea?  Let me tell you why.  Better yet, I’ll show you.

Do these sleeves look the same length?  If you voted no, you win!!!  I was knitting along last night bemoaning the fact that these sleeves weren’t growing.  I informed Honey that his sweater was going to have 3/4 length sleeves.  He just laughed.  A little later I took a break and measured his sleeve length.  He jokingly informed me that his arms weren’t the same length.

I went back to knitting.  I knit.  I knit more.  I stopped to look at my cables, and realized to my horror, that the sleeve on the right was missing a cable twist.  My first reaction was to leave it.  After all, Honey told me his arms weren’t the same length.

But I absolutely love this sweater.  (It’s this sweater knit with Yorkshire Tweed Aran, color Hero.  And the yarn is discontinued.)

So I ripped out a bunch of rows and I’m gonna fix it!

Here’s the artsy shot, taken in my bedroom.

Someone comment about the fact that we have more than one tree.  Um….it’s kind of like the number of WIPs I have.  Do I need to do a parade of trees?  I will fully disclose that no beautiful trees were cut down to decorate my house.  They just get dragged out of cardboard boxes stored in the recesses of my basement.

I just need to reiterate one thing.  If men’s sweaters had 3/4 sleeves, I’d be almost done!

Oh, and one other thing.  I ate pecan pie for breakfast this morning.  Scandalous, isn’t it?

I Promised!

Finally!  I sewed the buttons on Kid 5’s vest and we did a photo shoot.

The only shirt we could find had bears on it, but it works, and he’s happy.

I love all the color in this vest.  The yarn is Mountain Colors River Twist in the Trout Creek Colorway.  The pattern is Fast Favorite Vest from the Men in Knits book.  If you have men (both big and small) in your home to knit for and you don’t have this book, go buy it.  I’ve used it for numerous projects.

Of course we have to have the cute behind photo, and his is cute!

As you can see, I’ve started my Christmas decorating.  This is our junk tree and it’s in the kitchen.  The adult tree will go in the family room.  That’s my project for the weekend.

Tomorrow we need to finish up our homeschooling for the week and do lots of cooking.  Our youth pastor and his family live next door and they’re coming for dinner.  Our plan is to eat a lot and sit around.  I’m going to knit too!

Have a blessed Thanksgiving!

Just What You Always Wanted To Know!

OK, because I still don’t have photos of Kid 5’s new vest, I’m going to give this meme from Helen a shot. This is going to be hard, because I’m an open book.  Very often what comes out of my mouth has bypassed my brain.  You never need to wonder what I’m thinking.  But here goes.

Seven Things About Me

1.  I still hate walking through a bedroom in the dark.  I have to fight the urge to take a flying leap onto my bed.

2.  I absolutely detest yoghurt, cucumbers, and smelly cheese.  I call bleu cheese baby barf, and I’ve had enough of that in my lifetime.

3.  I’ve only said “I love you” to one man in my life.  Hi honey!!!

4.  If I’m stuck waiting anywhere, it makes me absolutely crazy if I don’t have my knitting along.

5.  I crave alone time and I rarely get it.  I like my own company.

6.  I like to make people laugh.  I ‘m good at making fun of myself, and if that makes people laugh, it’s just fine with me.

7.  If I could go anywhere I wanted on a given evening, my first choice would be to stay home, sometimes with my family, and sometimes by myself.  I love being home.

So does she!  (The quilt was made by my mother in law and just sold on an auction at our church for a lot of money!!!)

I’ll be back soon with a vest photo shoot.  We found a shirt tonight to put under it, and I bought the buttons.

Oh, and can I tell you about my date with Honey last night?  We spent $350 on groceries.  He had the staples list, and I had the Thanksgiving list.  Two carts and a big bill later and we were done!  And yes, I know that’s a lame date.  We’re like that!  But most of you still have to get groceries for Thanksgiving, don’t you???

Yes I Do!

There has been an ongoing discussion among lace knitters.  Do we wear the lace shawls and wraps we knit.  And if we do, how???  So, not that I’m the fashion police of all things lace, but here’s one example.

I have 13 finished lace projects in my drawer right now, and I will have to say that this is the one I wear the most.  I love the colors and the fact that it’s not so fragile.

Since I finished this before I started blogging, I’ll give you the details.  The pattern is Irish Diamond Shawl.  It’s in the Folk Shawls book by Cheryl Oberle.  I used 12 colors of Koigu in this project.  I thoroughly enjoyed knitting this, and it makes me want to dig out the Koigu stash right now!!!

I hadn’t worn this shawl with a shawl pin before this morning, and I’ll have to say it made it much more comfortable to wear.  I just stuck the pin in never thought about adjusting the shawl again.

This pin was purchased at Chico’s.  Thanks, Mom!!!

I’m back to working on Honey’s My Hero Sweater.  By the way, he was my photographer this morning.  He did a pretty good job with the artsy shots, huh?
