Because Sometimes the Best Thing You Can Give Your Kid is an Addiction…To Yarn

The main reason I’m visiting The Genius this week is to play nurse.  (Oz was just a huge added bonus!)  She’s having eye surgery for strabismus.  If you’re really bored, you can read about it here.  It’s not a big deal, but she needs someone to drive her and to hand her Advil and food!

This morning we set off for the eye doctor, because she needed to have her pupils dialated and a few more measurements done.  Once we were done with that, I drove her to work.  And I had a car.

My first stop was Campatto Yarn Salon.  I almost made it out the door with just a book, but then I spotted this yarn.

This is Madelinetosh Tosh Vintage and the color is called Tomato.  I’m not sure why, because it’s really orange.  And yes, it’s as bright as the photo.  Maybe even brighter.  I have a plan for it.  I’ll let you in on it when I start knitting.

Sew Modern was my second stop.  What a fun quilt shop.  Lauren is the owner and after having visited for a few minutes, I found out that she’s been in my hometown in Minnesota.  She has cousins there.  It really is a small world!  The staff was very friendly and a few things may have fallen in my bag.

At the top is a print The Genius purchased for her apartment.  I purchased these fabrics without having the print with me. She doesn’t think she wants a quilt, so I may be keeping it unless she changes her mind!

My next stop was Bed Bath and Beyond.  I purchased Britta water filters, a pillow, a broom, and a few other odd things for The Genius’ place.  Isn’t that what moms do?

I may have made a quick stop to buy shoes too, but I’m not saying for sure.

And now it’s time for some knitting.  We have to be at the surgery center at 5:45 tomorrow morning, so there won’t be much knitting tonight.  We’re praying for the correction to be perfect and the healing to be speedy and painless!!!

  1. Hello Maria, my son had surgery or strabismus when he was 6. No big deal, he ate a bunch, and I mean a bunch of Popsicles. No pain after day 1, and a lot of eye drops. I will say a prayer so that God guides the surgeon’s hands and that she is pain free and has a good outcome.

  2. Next time you’re out this way give me a heads up! We could do sme serious damage! :D

  3. Ooooo that “tomato” yarn is so tempting! I may have to hunt down some of that :*) And I could definitely add some of those wonderful fabrics to my stash too. Dang, I think I would have rather had your day than mine!
