Hi, it’s Maria. I’m a fortysomething wife of one and mom of five kids and one bichon frise. I have two addictions; knitting and quilting. I have tons of fabric and yarn, and a gazillion books for both. Who knows what you might need at midnight when you’re starting a project? I don’t know if it’s my age, or the fact that we have five children, but I don’t have a brain any more. My children all tell me (with the utmost respect) that I’m crazy. What they don’t know is that I’m passing it on to them!

My goals in life are to love my husband (23 years now), turn my children into decent human beings, and to celebrate the life that God has so graciously given me.  I’m blessed to have an amazing family and a faithful God.

I hope that when you read this blog that you’ll laugh, be inspired, and leave feeling better than when you first stopped in. You’ll also feel better because you know there is one person in the world that is crazier than you (and has more WIPs).

My Hero and I have been married for literally half of my life.  He’s a great guy and is way nicer than I am.  He always does the right thing.  Hence, the nickname “My Hero”.

I don’t think I need to explain my nickname.  I’d much rather knit and quilt than do about anything.  I don’t like housework, and even sleep is over rated!

The Genius is our college daughter.  She’s a genius only when she feels like it.  When she find things she’s passionate about, The Genius kicks it in high gear.  If she’s not interested, why bother?

Our second daughter, Superblonde, is 15, and getting her driving permit soon.  Please pray for us.  She’s only 5′3″ tall, but she’s the loudest kid in our family.  Usually it’s happy noise.

Our first son, at age 14, is nicknamed Dreamboy because he’s always dependable.  If you ask him to do something, it’s done.  He’s pretty laid back and is always nice to his mom.  And he wears size 13 shoes!

Ms In Charge is 10 going on 25.  She could run the world, given half the chance.  She’s hanging out with mom this year being homeschooled.  It’s our opportunity to spend some quality time together.  She has a great brain and the ability to push every button her siblings have!

And then there’s Frankie.  He got the nickname in the pool with his grandpa one summer.  Why?  We have no idea.  It just stuck.  Frankie is 8.  He loves cars and can tell a Maserati from a Ferrari.  (Not that there are many of them in rural Minnesota!)  He’s always happy and all the older girls love him.

So, there you have it.  The Crazy family.  Life is Good!

Wow, I love your shared blog idea. My mom and I spent all of college with emails and photos to keep in touch (Texas to Massachusetts!). We’re on to blogs now…I could see us doing this sort of thing if I’d gone away to school just a few years later than I did. You can find our non-shared blogs at http://blog.blacktabi.com and http://needlesnotesandnews.blogspot.com/

Great job on the MS 3. I love it! Mine is plain vanilla …. and still a WIP. Love that colorway. I’m going to have to try the CTH laceweight sometime.

Hi. Just ran into you on Ravelry. I am a quilter/knitter too and checked out your ourdoor Christmas flag. What fabric are you using for this, it’s beautiful. Thanks.

I would love to see your baby gift knitting. I am anticipating another grandaughter any day and looking for more ideas besides what I have already knit. I enjoy your blog and family involvements – can’t find a more important priority in life. Thanks, Ginny

    Hi Maria,
Do you have your swell quilt pattern for sale? Is there anything I can bribe you with from Australia?

    Cheers,
    Melissa

    Hi,

I came to your blog via Moda Bake shop :) . I really enjoyed reading about your hobbies! I have not tried quilting yet, but I guess I still have time – just have to pick a little bit more courage :)

    Greetings from LT
