Passing Down Crazy

Because Sometimes the Best Thing You Can Give Your Kid is an Addiction…To Yarn

You know how you do one thing, and it starts a whole avalanche of other things? Well, my computer died. I have a PC (I’m a mac girl) in my sewing room that I use only for running my embroidery machine. So I took the computer, monitor, speakers, etc. out and the dust was ridiculous!!! Let me just tell you that this room is a mess. Here’s a photo from September 7 and it still looks this bad.

It’s time. The countertops are full. The cupboards are full. The floor is almost full. Its going to get cleaned. I actually started this evening. Now that the computer isn’t there, I have that space. Honey and I found a cheap laptop on ebay. That will be much nicer.

I dug out the laundry room this afternoon and I’m still really thinking that red washer and dryer would look awesome. My wash machine is sounding like a rocket, so we’re starting to evaluate our options.

Oh, and the dishwasher died, so I ordered a new one today. We can quit with the appliance and electronics failures now.

On the knitting front, the response to the last post has been very strong. For some reason, y’all want to see me humiliate myself. You want me to post all my WIP’s. Fine! I’ll start listing a few each time I post, until I can’t take the humiliation any more. I’m betting I have over 30 projects.

I’ll give you a little teaser for the next post. I pulled out the second Koigu shawl I started a while back. I’m on about the 5th color. I’ll probably use about 12 colors. I have a huge bag of Koigu. Do you think I could find all the colors I wanted to use in that bag? Of course not. I had to order more. I’m in the mood to work on it, but I’ll bet it will be Friday before the rest of the yarn arrives.

For now I’m back working on my Must Have Cardi. I’m really liking the feel of the Classic Elite Waterlily. I love working with Koigu, but when I went back to the Waterlily, it felt so soft.

OK, back to the sewing room. Hopefully in the next day or so, I’ll have a photo of a perfect sewing room. I have a long way to go!

  1. I just blogged about my dryer dying! And that it is affecting a circle of friends!

  2. What Is it with appliances this month? I have a drip inside my washer, a friend across the country has a dryer screaming, other bloggers also have to replace appliances. You wouldn’t suppose the appliances are lonely cause we’re spending what they consider too much time with yarn, do you? After working all Autumn on my WIP’s I’m starting new projects that will take awhile also…

  3. Why do all the appliances crap out at the same time? It must be a conspiracy.

  4. Well, appliance shopping can be fun. Not as much fun as yarn shopping but still… it’s shopping. Go for the red.

  5. Last year was my “Year of the Appliances (and some other stuff)” I ended up getting – new washer and dryer, new furnace and Air conditioner, new computer, new kitchen floor, new sewer pipes out front (we won’t go into that story), waterproofed basement, I think that’s it. My goal this year is no new big stuff. I hope I didn’t send my bad appliance mojo to you! If I did – sorry…
