I Really Need To Get A Life!

400 beads.

One skein of Handmaiden Sea Silk

Swallowtail Shawl pattern by Evelyn Clark

Started Friday at 9:30 AM. Finished Monday at 1:30 AM. Yes, folks. That’s 64 hours. I really need to get a life! Actually, I need to get groceries and do laundry.

I really love this thing, even if it’s pink.

My assistant loves it too. Maybe I need to make another one. Can I skip the beads though?

  2. Gorgeous!
I think I need to make another, but with beads, I can see how this can be frustraing due the high number of them, but boy does it look good.

  3. Your shawl is incredibly gorgeous. I love the beads. A pink fairy shawl. But, yes, perhaps you should put down the needles for an hour or two. 😀

  4. Oh, my goodness. This is just beautiful! :0)

  5. It’s gorgeous! Impressive speed too. I have some Sea Silk on the way to make onw of these. Of coures, it will probably take me all summer.

  6. Maria, the scarf is beautiful.

I have the pattern, I need to get the beads and I have the yarn for the first Swallowtail (KnitPick’s Shadow in Jewel). I plan on making five of these shawls for Christmas presents in silk that I just ordered from ColourMart (2500 yards for $16. can you believe it?) I can’t wait to get the beads and start!!!!

  7. Wow, that’s so amazing. And so fast! And so gorgeous. Congratulations!

  8. That is simply gorgeous!

  9. No way! Your speed is awe inspiring. When Swallowtail first came out, I decided that would be my first lace project. Needless to say, it didn’t take 64 hours! I love, love, love the pink!!

  10. I love your shawl! I’m especially fond of pink, too. You did a very nice job on it.

  11. Gorgeous! I can’t believe that you finished so fast!

  12. You are truly an inspiration! The shawl is just beautiful! I will add this to my ravelry que tonight!

  13. You are crazy, lady!! But I’m glad you finished a project! The last time I read your blog, I believe you are just going to start it – and now, you’re done! You’re incredible! And it’s gorgeous! Congratulations!!

  14. Beautiful! Are you going to do Frost Flowers and Leaves in one week?

  15. Gorgeous. Definately worth ignoring the housework for. Love the color too. PS. Thanks for the tip about photocopying the chart for as many repeats as you need for lace knitting. It’s made it a lot easier.

  16. Swoon! It is gorgeous! But what I want to know is how on earth did you get everybody to leave you in peace for 64 hours?

  17. Beads? Mandatory.
    Life? Optional.

  18. I am seriously stunned at how beautiful this is!! Forget about how quickly you finished, just look at that gorgeous work of lace!!

  19. Your Swallowtail is beautiful! I’m working on my first and loving every minute of it. I wanted to tell you that you are so lucky to have 5 children despite the everyday trials…. I am the second child of 5 and my brothers and sister are my foundation and my rock when I’m floating about in the world!! (I’m 28 now…)

  20. Oh my! That’s beautiful! I was just looking at that pattern yesterday and now I’ll have to give bead a serious consideration. I won’t even consider your time elapsed though.

So… verdict on Seasilk? Worth it? No one has it locally so I’d have to mail order on faith.
