Passing Down Crazy

Because Sometimes the Best Thing You Can Give Your Kid is an Addiction…To Yarn

Delayed Gratification

I went to a baby shower this morning.  Why should you care?  Because I finally get to show you one of my all time favorite projects.  It’s been finished since July, and I don’t like keeping secrets.

This is Helena, a free pattern on Knitty.  I used Classic Elite Wool Bam Boo, and it’s sooooo soft.

There are teeny tiny Norwegian buttons.

And lace!!!  It’s so much cuter in person, because it’s teeny tiny.

Speaking of teeny tiny, you should see the baby that’s wearing it.  She’s a beautiful baby, and it’s quite obvious that she’s well loved.  Her mommy is loving her new job, and I’ve heard her daddy is too.  Her grandma is pretty tickled and her grandpa…..lets just say he has another little girl that has him wrapped around her little finger!!!!

What else have I been up to this week?  I’m getting new carpet in my  bedroom, so I’ve been sorting yarn, and yarn, and more yarn.  I have so many things I want to knit.  I’m thinking I need to list some yarn on ebay too, but I’ll let you know if when that happens.

But right now I’m going to take a nap.  Who has a baby shower at 9:30 on Saturday morning, for pete sake???

  1. How gorgeous is that sweater!!!

  2. I really like the baby’s sweater! It’s refreshing to see one in untraditional colors.

  3. oooooh.
I wish the babies I now must knit for were girls — I love knitting lacy baby things!

Got time to do some judging? We’re down a judge at SOL. Pick your top three, in order, for each of the categories, and let me know your choices….

  4. So beautiful! I keep waiting for someone I know to have a baby girl, so I can knit this for her. :0)

  5. That baby sweater is so pretty! I love how quickly baby items knit up so I always have something on the needles for a future baby shower (for friends and family of course)! Those buttons must be really tiny, it’s hard to imagine such small buttons with such great detail.

  6. Great Christmas sweater! Isn’t this the same one I saw on Heather’s blog

  7. I’m the little baby’s aunt, so I was at the shower this morning. I can attest that the photos do not do this sweater justice. =)

And I have to admit… I got a good chuckle out of the last line of this post. I was thinking the same thing. =D

  8. Very pretty, and I love the color. I’m sick of pastels for babies!

  9. Very cute! Looks like a perfect marriage of yarn to pattern. Lucky recipient of your skills!

  10. I have no babies to knit for right now but it’s so pretty. Love the color. Unfortuneatly my LYS is 9 hours away by car so all I can find are the usual pastel baby yarns at Walmart. Maybe it’s good that my LYS is 9 hours away or I’d be spending more money than I have on yarn. Lucky baby and mom recipient of sweater!

  11. So cute! Looks a lot like your Mr. Greenjeans!

  12. That is adorable. I love red for little girls!

  13. I am the lucky mom who gets to put this gorgeous sweater on my daughter…and I couldn’t be more excited for her to grow into it! Thank you SO much …I am blessed to have something so beautiful. When she grows out of it, I am planning to hang it on the wall of her nursery as art…I think it will be adorable — and I can’t put it in a box for no one to see! 🙂 Thank you again — I really love it!

Ps…Grandma thinks it’s absolutely adorable too…we decided we are going to try and find a black velvet hat to match the pants….she’s going to look so stinkin’ cute 🙂
