Because Sometimes the Best Thing You Can Give Your Kid is an Addiction…To Yarn

Perfection

Y’all (that’s for all my Texas family) know that my life is perfect, right?  My kids are perfect, my meals are perfectly nutritious, my dog is perfect, my laundry room is perfect, my sewing room is spotlessly perfect, and My Hero is perfect (he’s darn close!).  Yeah, my life is perfect.

Who’s crap sewing room is that?  Certainly not mine.  (Have I mentioned that I love Zappos?)

There’s a cutting table under there?  And yes, I’m fully aware that the wallpapering still isn’t done, thankyouverymuch!

Am I going to show you an after photo?  No!  It looks pretty good, but I decided that I’m going for good enough.  Not perfection.  I just want to sew, for pete sake. Remember, my word for the year is contentment, not perfection.

Why is there an elephant sitting at my Bernina?

  1. Thank you for posting the pictures. You make me feel SO much better about my studio knowing its not the only one in its current commdition!

  2. I cannot think of a single thing I WOULDN’T DO to have a room, with a door, to keep the knitting and sewing stuff ‘out’. As opposed to buried in closets or under beds. It’s a day-long project just to dig out the sewing machine…which I did today. I’ve had 2 blouses sitting on the china cabinet (why, where do you keep your pile of ironing/mending?) since NOVEMBER. Now the machine is under the kitchen table. The kids wanted to eat, demanding little creatures, and I didn’t want to move it too far, lest the urge to mend pass quickly! And if I had such a room, it would look far, far worse than that!!

  3. Thank you for showing your mess. I love it! Glad to know that us creative people only organize our studios “for show”…

  4. Ha ha ha ha….oh, this is hilarious!! You are FUNNY. I don’t think I’d want you as a roomate, though. You would have much better shoes that I do. Besides, I would never allow your elephant on my Bernina. He probably machine quilts better than I do (and that would be embarrassing). GREAT POST…a classic.

  5. But please, an after picture- otherwise I will feel frantic for you.

  6. Looks JUST like my sewing room – everything right at your fingertips (if you can find it!)

  7. Do I need to come for an intervention, uh I mean visit?

  8. Oh my! I glad I’m not the only one with pile issues.

  9. Just after I got most of the crap sorted and put away, including the box of fabric my MIL gave me, (there were two boxes, one of them was donated) she gives me another box! I don’t have time to take care of it today-I have to sew for money today!

It’s a good thing I can create in a mess-think it comes from raising three boys.

Love that purse-purses are my obsession!

  10. I’d love to see and after picture. The table you have your machine set into is fantastic and I love the funky wallpaper!
