Passing Down Crazy

Because Sometimes the Best Thing You Can Give Your Kid is an Addiction…To Yarn

I just took a two hour, unplug the phone, dump your jeans on the floor, climb under the blankets, nap.  It was heaven!  I guess even stupid people that stay up half the night to knit need sleep.

Ok, you asked for it.

First of all, notice the new home of my Scarlet Moth blanket.  It is so huge, it would probably look better on my bed, but my bed is almost never made.

I have 1 1/2 cubes of sock yarn and 1 1/2 cubes of lace yarn.  On the top right is another batch of Kauni.  I have a plan!!!  I love Noro.  That’s scattered throughout. The basket on top is yarn that I’ve wound, but haven’t started anything with yet.  Yes, I changed my mind!  The little basket is Socks that Rock.  Way on the left corner of the photo, on the fireplace mantle, is a glass jar with the leftovers of sock yarn.  It’s overflowing.

Oh, on the footstool is my new Woolen Rabbit Whisper merino lace yarn in the Arabian Night colorway.  My next project is going to be Maplewing.  The gold yarn is something else that Anne sucked me into.

I thought to do a contest to guess how many skeins there were, but that would mean I’d have to count, so  that isn’t going to happen.

I should have taken a picture of my nightstand and the floor in front of it.  What a mess.

I’m headed for the laundry room.  If you don’t hear from me in a few days, send a rescue squad.

  1. I’m drooling all over again!!!

  2. After redding up your chair area, no wonder you needed a nap! And, heck, when you bring a load of laundry up to your room to put away, maybe you can red up the nightstand! Maplewing. Sigh. Gorgeous pattern that is, just gorgeous.

  3. I have to confess, my yarn is piled inside two huge garbage cans, separated into grocery sacks. Keeps it clean, but it’s not nearly as pretty as your storage method. Yours is definitely more inspirational!

  4. I just want to hop in the chair and stay awhile, a good long while – very inviting.

Oh, and congratulations for guessing correctly the meaning of the bean/seed over at The Last Piece. Thanks for introducing me to that site.

  5. I don’t know that I’d ever leave that space… maid service available?

  6. I have a box full of scraps from sock yarn. My plan was to make scrappy socks with a solid color for the ribbing, heels and toes. But I didn’t get around to it. Now, alas, my oldest (7-year old) socks are getting thin and wearing out on the soles and heels. But the other parts of the socks are still so beautiful. So I’m knitting on new soles. Thank God for the scraps. If anyone needs instructions for this, leave a comment on my blog.

  7. I covet your cubes/diamonds!
I want me some in MY house….

  8. Your blanket is lovely….although it was tough to take my eyes off the lovely stash on the wall!!!!!

  9. I’ve been admiring your diagonal shelving in your posts? I’d love to have something like that in my den. Did you build it? Buy it? Love it!

  10. I love your yarn storage! Thank you for posting a picture! I have a glass candle thingy that I keep all my yarn scraps in…it really is very pretty! I haven’t laid my hands on any STR but in June when I go on vacation I’m hoping that Knitch will have some. We’ll be making a stop when we go through Atlanta! Love the chair…do you spend a lot of time knitting there?

  11. Aha! The diamond shaped storage bins are often used for storing wine bottles! I discovered that after a bit of an internet search. The coolest thing was I found a detailed plan about how to build a shelf on a woodworking website. I’ve forwarded this to my dad, a woodworking master, to see what he thinks…. ; )
