The Cute Factor!

I just completed the cutest quilt I’ve made in a very long time.   It has flowers.

And a birdie.

The fabric is All You Need Is Love by Deb Strain for Moda.  This line of fabric is from a few years ago.  I love the lime green in it.

The pattern is hot off the press!  It’s Buttercup from the book Stop, Drop and Roll by Heather Peterson of Anka’s Treasures. This is a brand new book, so head for your LQS and ask them to order it.  There are several projects in this book that I love.  She also has a new hexagon book called Sizzlin’ Sixties that I’m pulling out next.  I’m amazed every time Heather publishes another book.  She designs projects that are simple and so very cool!

This is Heather’s version.  I pilfered the photo from her blog, and since I didn’t ask permission, I’ll have to ask forgiveness.  Hey Heather, will you forgive me???  She likes me so I think I’m safe!

I put an extra section in the middle because my fabrics are just too busy for the applique to show up.  I do my applique by machine.  I use rayon thread in matching colors.  I haven’t yet mastered the gorgeous needleturn applique that I’ve admired for so long.

I’m going to put this away for the day that I find the little girl that it needs to belong to.  Then I’m going to applique her name above the smaller flower.

I hung this quilt in a window to take the photos.  It’s kind of a cool look, huh?  Some of them I took with the flash and some without.

Now it’s time for Nascar and some knitting.

Oh, and Happy Mother’s Day.  And Mom and Nana…I just realized that both of your gifts are in my house, as opposed to being in the mail, or better yet, at your houses!!!  Love you both!  I’m not the sharpest pin in the quilt!

  3. That really is very, very cute. Well done!

  4. Love both versions of the quilt! Pink and lime green always go so well together!

  5. You certainly have a good eye for color!
    Happy Mother’s Day!

  6. Don’t the new fabrics and patterns just make the little girl inside of you happy? Heather comes up with unique and fun patterns. I like the way we each get to play with it all and make it our very own. A Betty

  7. Your quilt is unbelievably beautiful! I have tinkered with the idea of learning to quilt for awhile now, but never pursued it. Keeping up with the gorgeous things you make on your blog makes me want to learn even more.

  8. I’ll whisper so Heather doesn’t hear me – I like your pink/lime version the best!

  9. I like your version MUCH better.
    no whispering either (sorry Heather).
