Things That Make Me Smile

A reclaimed dining room.  It’s no longer a homeschool room.

Flowers in Minnesota in September.  It’s 80 degrees today.

Funky new shoe racks.  Our back hall is no longer a booby trap.

An almost completed collar on a sweater.  I’m doing the sleeves this weekend!

My kiddos getting off the bus.  Thanks for your cooperation, Ms In Charge.

Frankie’s birthday.  My baby can’t be 9 years old already!  He didn’t get two candles blown out.  That means he has two girlfriends!

My yarn corner.  It’s all organized.

Lest you think everything is perfect around here, let me show you the view from that nice clean chair!  The mess extends around the corner too.  And I can’t even begin to describe the basement.  The sorting has just begun!  Oh, and you should hear those kids.  They. Argue. About. Everything.

We’re going camping this weekend for Frankie’s birthday.  I’ll be back on Monday.  It’s going to be a big day.  I’m starting a huge stash sale.  See you then!

  1. Oh my, that yarn corner. Do you mind if I drool a little? 😉 Have fun camping!

  2. Love your yarn corner – where did you get your shelfing unit? Was it from Ikea? And sorry for snooping – I see parts of the Woolgirl sock club in the view from the chair!

  3. Oh good, a weekend to let everyone run off steam, s’mores, knitting and your Hero gets to deal with sibling rivalry! Great fun to you!

  4. Your yarn corner is one of the best yarn shops I’ve seen!

  5. LOve that yarn corner…and I don’t even knit or crochet!!! And the shoe racks are just too cool!

  6. Would you please, please come decorate my home?? I love the pictures you take of your home. Have fun camping… we’re getting ready to leave next week for a fishing/knitting/spinning trip.

  7. The sweater is gorgeous! And I just love those shoe racks, where did you get them?

  8. Indeed, many reasons to smile! You are blessed.

Love the yarn corner – so inviting!

And where did you ever find those fabulous, funky shoe shelves?!

  9. Where did you get that beautiful yarn shelf?! I must acquire one! 🙂

  10. Happy belated birthday to Frankie!

As usual, your blog post is full of fun things to look at: love those shoe slots, gorgeous collar work on sweater, cute kids going to school with cute bags/bagpacks … but you HAD to tease us with your yarn stash corner, sigh. Seriously, you are not worried about dust or moths?… but at the rate you knit compared (ahem) to the rest of us, I guess it’s not a problem.

Happy camping, and hopefully you’ll have good weather. Don’t forget the marshmallows!

  11. Can I move in with you? I could stay just behind that comfy chair near the yarn…you won’t hardly notice me!!

  12. Back again for another look! A few nagging questions and an observation I missed…first, where did you find those shoe thingys? Love them! Second, more info on the black and white wall near them, another picture perhaps…love that too! Lastly, do you worry about moths with the yarn stored that way? I wanted to do that so badly but I fear those things immensely.

How did I miss the destash sentence at the end? Must have been seriously delirious at the possiblitly of moving in 🙂

  13. I love that very simple things make you smile.
I love that you seem to find joy in the everyday things of life (even though you also get to partake of some pretty cool adventures).

I love that you love your family so much! And share a little of that with us.

(Can you tell me where you got that lovely ‘yarn-case/book-case’??)

  14. I love your yarn corner!

  15. I’ve been wanting a view of the yarn storage behind your chair! It looks like such a nice place to sit and knit! Or do whatever!

  16. I adore your yarn corner and that comfy-looking chair. Your dining room is gorgeous!
