We found yarn heaven!!! Did you know that there are at least 4 yarn shops in Portland, Maine? There are, but first I have to tell you about our day.
The Genius and I left Boston this morning, and after getting lost for a very long time in Lowell, MA, we finally found Hub Mills Factory Store. It was well worth looking for. Here’s what we saw when we walked in the door.
They carry a lot of Classic Elite yarns, because the CEY office was right there!!! I was sorely tempted to sneak through an open door and go exploring. We did get to meet one very interesting person. Tonia Barry was minding the store. Take a look at some of her designs. She also has a pattern in the newest Twist Collective. It’s called Lorelei. It’s in my favorite list on ravelry. Tonia was very nice and very helpful.
Are we going to tell you what we bought? Nope!!! Let’s just say we had fun.
After overdosing on yarn fumes, we got back in the car and headed to Portland. It was rainy today, but the trees were gorgeous. It’s supposed to be sunny the rest of the week, and I’m looking forward to doing some sightseeing!
Here’s the treat that showed up at our door after we checked in to our hotel.
S’mores!!! Aren’t they cute? All that was left on the plate a few minutes later were graham cracker crumbs!
Tonight we went into Portland. We stuck our heads in Tess’ Yarn just as they were closing. We wanted to see if it was worth going back. Uh, yes!!!!!! We’ll make sure we update you on all the yarn shops here in Yarn Heaven.
We ate dinner early, so we’re going to be knitting for the next several hours!
We’ll be back soon with more adventures in paradise! (If I can get The Genius out of bed in the morning!)
