Just Trying To Stay Warm

It’s so cold here in Marvelous Minnesota that I wore socks for the first time yesterday.  (And yes, I have tons of handknit socks.)  How cold is it?  Lets just say it’s been below zero several nights in a row.  Yes, that’s fahrenheit, thankyouverymuch!

So, to stay warm, I’m knitting scarves, making quilts, and getting out my fingerless mittens.

This is my Luscious Lace Scarf by The Sock Pixie.  It’s a free pattern too!  The yarn is cashmere and mink by Great Northern Yarns. It blocked beautifully and bloomed a lot.  It’s very soft.  If you’re purchasing the red, just be warned that its way more burgundy than either my photo or their website shows.   It’s wonderfully soft!

I have the center of my Hushabye quilt finished.

Now I get to make lots of flying geese blocks!  Yay!

I’m also trying to figure out what to do with this yarn.

It’s Tess’ Yarn Angora and Merino.  I think I’m going to make this ruffled scarf.

And look at the fingerless mitts that a certain someone sent me.  Just for the heck of it.

Thanks Mickey!!!

With all of that, I should have no problem staying warm!

Have a great weekend, everyone!

  1. We’ve been pretty lucky here-right now it’s 21 degrees ABOVE zero-good for the morale. I had to tell you that your new header is just like the pictures I took here on Thursday. Wednesday night we had pea-soup fog, which translated into hoar frost when the fog lifted in the morning. I hate winter but I’m trying to appreciate the beauty. As usual, your scarf and quilt are breathtaking!

  2. If you’re having difficulty deciding on the TESS’S orange goodness, you can always send it to me. HA! Your mitts are just the thing for this weather – what a great invention they are – enabling you to be outdoors AND knitting!

  3. Your quilt is so pretty. What pattern are you using?

  4. love love love the hushabye quilt!! especially the partial blocks in the setting!
