Miscellaneous Monday Morning

So, what’s up on this dreary Minnesota morning?

1.  I got a phone call from the carpenter.  They were coming to figure out why my sewing room roof was leaking.

They cut out a bunch of sheetrock and dug out insulation.  Yes, that’s all wet.  They also have a plan for the roof to fix it.  So, it’s all good.  They came when they said they would, even if they got me out of bed on Monday morning.

I had to look twice at this photo.  My walls aren’t white.  The wallpaper is a little red stripe that doesn’t show up on the photo.  Weird!

2.  While the guys were working, I caught up on my blog reading.  I found out that block 2 was ready for my Jelly Roll Sampler Quilt. I waited not very patiently for them to leave so I could make the block.

It’s a bit “matchy-matchy” but I’m loving the cheery colors on this March Minnesota Morning!

3.  I have both the wash machine and dryer running.  I know!  Alert the media for this exciting news.

4.  I had a really good cup of coffee.  I love my Keurig.

5.  I knit a row on my Maplewing.  It started with over 600 stitches and it’s all the way down to 400-something stitches per row!

6.  I ate a bowl of Frosted Flakes and wished I’d put oatmeal in the crockpot last night!

7.  I sat and looked at these blocks.

Aren’t they just so cute?  I’m cutting up and sewing together 84 charm squares to make a 27 inch square quilt.  It just seems like there’s something wrong with that!  Oh, well.  It will be so cute!

How’s that for a Monday morning?  I think it’s nap time!

  1. The little blocks are quite cute but way too much work for me to get a small quilt. Can’t wait to see it though.
I don’t drink coffee but I love my keurig too. I heat water for hot chocolate or I make iced tea.

  2. Wow, you’ve had a busy Monday morning! Hope you are taking a long nap this afternoon! Sky also loves your Keurig…she thinks we need one! Thanks! As you know I know nothing about quilting or knitting but I think your projects are pretty!!! Have a great day!

  3. WAY to productive for me, I was up early and did my Farmville Farm went back to bed for 3 more hours, got up and did the farm again, went out and got some breakfast came home and did online scrabble with my son, trimmed ends off the finished shawls Tom blocked, organized my circular needles again and by then it was noon, actually 12:30 I sat and knit one round of PI, 600 stitches, it was 1:30 cleaned the kitchen, made tea, now 2 PM, knit another round of PI—its 5 to 3, went on the computer and been here since. Have to think about dinner soon—mac and cheese tonight!

  4. How do you make your oatmeal in the crockpot? I love oatmeal in a Residents Inn or Courtyard hotel because they do it in the crockpot and it’s always SO creamy!

  5. All of your in progress projects are looking wonderful! What yarn are you using for the Maplewing?

  6. Maria
I love my Keurig too. What is your favorite coffee? I am trying them all…my son thinks Timothy’s is really good, I like the Caribou Morning blend and Rick like Paul Newman’s extra bold. What is your recipe for oatmeal in the crockpot…I love oatmeal but hardly make it unless I do an oatmeal breakfast casserole.
    The shawl is great too!

  7. My guy is pretty sure quilting is insane. He loves the end product, but says:’ Let me get this straight. You are going to cut up fabric, to sew it back into a fabric? And this is normal because…’ Love that guy!

  8. That’s one busy morning. The hole looks a bit scary, you’ll feel good when it’s all fixed up. I love the little 9 patches.

  9. I would also love to hear how you make oatmeal in a crock pot…My Dh and I are on an oatmeal kick right now and that does sound really good!!! Oh your quilt block is so cheery!
I love your blog but… alas I am a lurker and seldom if ever comment!

  10. Obviously you did way to much on Monday since we have not heard from you sense!!! Hope all is okay, you are missed

  11. Ruh Roh, leaky ceiling in winter, no less. Steel cut oats in the crock pot? Mmm, time to experiment. Well, all you can do is make another cup of coffee.
