Passing Down Crazy

Because Sometimes the Best Thing You Can Give Your Kid is an Addiction…To Yarn

Still Alive!

We’re home!  And I have a new BFF!

Ms In Charge and I have 3 infected ears.  Two of them are mine.  And I’m not moving too far away from that kleenex box.  I’m just miserable enough that I don’t feel like doing anything, but not too miserable to knit.  Actually, I knit until 5:00 this morning because it hurt to lay my head on the pillow.  My teeth even hurt.  So I started this!

When Anne Hanson sees this, she’s just going to cringe!  I take a classy, beautiful pattern and use bright green yarn.  It’s almost a crime!  Here’s her beautiful shawl.  What can I say?  I’m a sucker for bright greens.  This is Silkie Socks that Rock in The New Color Of Love.  My kleenex box and I cast on 303 stitches and knit the first few rows before I kinda fell asleep sitting up.

I was hoping to block The Purple Blob today.  Since that’s an Anne Hanson pattern, I was hoping she’d see the beauty of my Maplewing and forgive me for the lime green mess above!  However, I have a problem.  There’s something in my favorite blocking spot.

I may need to do some negotiating with Frankie for my spot!

If you looked closely at my kleenex photo, you may have noticed some more knitting!  Look what I finished last night!

The Mitered Vee Capelet is finished.  I’m pretty sure my kleenex box and I can get those ends woven in today.  I’m just going to steam block this one, and it’s ready to go.  I think I’m going to love it!

And, speaking of miters.  Here’s the yarn for my next mitered project.

The yarn is Socks that Rock mediumweight in Meet Brown, Joe and Spinel.  I’ll give you more info soon!  I need to do some swatching first!

So, did all of that distract you enough to not notice that I still don’t have anything finished to show you?  Good!  I thought it would work!

I’m off to find my darning needle and kleenex box, so I can get all those ends woven in.  Then I’ll have something for show and tell!!!

  1. I thought for a minute there you were knitting a laptop…

Hope you feel better soon, ear infections are the pits.

  2. Oh no! Ear infections are the worse! I have some rose/pink Madtosh Sock that is wound and ready for the same shawl. I’ve been forcing myself to finish one of my three projects already going on size 5 needles (which I will need) first.

  3. “Pine and Ivy” is appropriate in green, I’d think!!!

Hot lemon water with a tad of honey might help…

  4. I hope you and Kleenex have speedy recovery so you can continue working on all those projects.

  5. Sorry to hear you’ve been sick – we were sick all last month, and it really sucks. Here’s to a speedy recovery! 🙂

  6. ear infections – yikes. Youngest child had so many – we had a standing appt at the MD! Hope you both feel better soon. Your illness is not negatively affecting your knitting! I’m kind of freaking out though, as I just put together a Blue Moon order. Small world? Getting smaller all the time!
    Speedy recovery to you!

  7. Making friends with the Kleenex box is not exactly the way you want to spend your time–I hope you feel better soon!

I kinda like the green – bright and cheerful! That’s a patten I’ve got on my list too (guess I’m a sucker for Anne Hanson patterns), but have yet to find yarn for it.
