I Found It!

Yesterday I told you I’d let you know if I found something exciting to do.  I found something.

Mary and I are going to do a KAL.  (That’s a knit along, for all you non knitters.  By the way, you might want to consider learning to knit.  Then you could have fun with us!)

I met Mary at sock camp.  Mary is a fabulous knitter.  Check out her new book on Stranded Colorwork.  Everything she knits is perfect, and usually has some unique little touch that makes per projects spectacular.

But……she’s never knit lace.  So I offered to do a lace project at the same time, just for moral support.  So, Mary chose the Adamas shawl by MimKnits.  It’s a perfect first lace project!

I chose Handmaiden Sea Silk in periwinkle for my project.

I’m also going to add beads, because I love glitz.  This is a really crummy photo, because it’s nasty and rainy here in Marvelous Minnesota! My yarn is not gray!

Mary’s already one upped me on this shawl though!  She’s using her own handspun for her project.  You’ll have to watch her blog to get the details on her project.  Make sure you leave her a comment to cheer her on!

If anyone is interested in joining us, it’s not too late.  It’s the weekend!  Just grab some yarn and needles, and lets go!  Just leave a comment and tell us you’d like to party with us!  When Mary and I get together, there’s never a dull moment!

  2. I wish Mary much luck on knitting her lace shawl. I finally have gotten over my fear of lace knitting and am going to start Dane Shawl with Handmaiden Mini Maiden (50% silk, 50% wool). I already knit up a alittle test swatch and it seems like something I can handle. I’ll be following your progress!

  3. Awww shucks! I’d LOVE to KAL…. it’s my 1st lace as well. Just downloaded and printed out the pattern and will search my stash tomorrow for the perfect yarn! Happy Mother’s Day ladies!

  4. The pattern you chose is awesome, I did knit mine in a grey, SWTC Optimum DK, and it was large and warm and toasty and given as a gift, wish I had the time to join your knit along, but I will cheer you from the side. Happy Mother’s Day!!!

  7. Mary’s book looks terrific. I love the sweater she is wearing in your blog photo…love the buttons. And are those nupps???? They are so perfectly executed and each one is EXACTLY like the others. Wow. Wow even if they’re bobbles and not nupps.
