Passing Down Crazy

Because Sometimes the Best Thing You Can Give Your Kid is an Addiction…To Yarn

Sunshine and Color

Does anyone know where this photo was taken?

Going from Terminal C to Terminal B at the Chicago airport.  Isn’t it cool?  And yes, that means we’re home.  At least a few of us are.  I’m at home all week with one kid!!!  Dreamboy and I are going to finish our basement redo and go to a baseball game or two.  Ms In Charge is at church camp.  Superblonde stayed in the hot and humid south with her sister, The Genius.  My Hero is in Texas, at my parents, going to flight school for two weeks.  He took Frankie with him to play with cousins.  And next week, we’ll all be in Texas to see my family…except The Genius.  She starts summer session.  Did you get all that???  Don’t worry, I didn’t either.  I have a spreadsheet to keep it all straight.

Ok….knitting!  That’s what you really came for, right?

The Conterpane Blouse is finished.

I like it a lot on the hanger.  On me, it looks a bit square.  Maybe because I am….a bit square.  And the zig-zag pooling on the bottom.  That’s right on my rear.   Oh, well!  I’ll wear it anyway.

I used 4 skeins of Claudia’s Handpainted Linen.  The base she dyes is Euroflax Linen, which is the recommended yarn for this pattern.  I used size 4 needles.

It’s been raining since we got home on Sunday, so I haven’t checked my flowers.  Look what I found when I came outside this morning!

Baby socks!  Why did I knit baby socks?  I did the first one in Stephanie’s class at sock camp.  While we were on vacation, I decided to finish the second one.  Just so I can say I did.  I guess they’ll go in my Grandma box, which I don’t want to use for a LONG time!!!

Since I’ve been home, startitis has hit.  I started another ruffle scarf, this time with Koigu.  I had two meetings to go to yesterday, and I was panicking because I didn’t have any brainless knitting to bring with me.  So I cast on 648 stitches and knit a row the night before.  And then I forgot to take it with me.  My committee members like it when I bring knitting.  I’m much quieter!!!  Oh, well.  I didn’t take photos yet, because it’s just lots of stitches crammed on a needle.

I also started….gasp…another project.  I got my sock club yarn from Socks that Rock   There were mixed reviews on it, but I immediately loved it!!!  You see, J.Jill has a color out this summer called Zest.  I love it!!!  The yarn matches perfectly, so I’m going to knit Arabella.

Here’s a closer shot.

It feels as soft as it looks!

Well, it’s spa day for the dog and I.  Shes getting groomed and I’m covering my gray hair.  Gotta go!

  1. Love this STR color!

    • I so remember the rainbow hallway from my days as a business traveler! I love that hallway!

Can you belt counterpane under your bust to help with the squareness? Its so pretty, maybe a thin patent belt might help – a couple of loops to keep it in place? JCrew has yellow and orange ones out this season… A lot of trouble to go through, yes – but you have all the free time with your family spread out around the country, right?

  2. Dude, I actually KNEW where this was before you said it. True story. I have been in so many airports (avid traveler here), and this one has always stuck out for me.

  3. Yep, I knew the airport before I read your answer too! I travel quite a bit for work, and O’Hare is my “home” airport. I love riding the moving sidewalks through that corridor and watching the changing colors.

  4. hey I have a “grandma box” too….Paul & Emily don’t know about it but two quilts and a couple knitted things already live in it… 🙂

  5. beautiful knits as always. I knew the photo right away — I’m very familiar with that terminal (((shudder))) Welcome home!!

  6. You’re gonna be in Texas next week? COOL! Well… really I should say “hot” because it is already hot down here in Austin. May you have a wonderful trip full of great LYSs.

  7. Hey! I know a little baby boy that should fit into those cutie-pie socks in about 7 weeks 🙂 Hahahah…Thanks again for letting us use the hanger…You’ll have to stop by and see the new place sometime. 🙂 Enjoy your week!
