On Making and Being a Bag!

Yeah, I kinda feel like I’m being an old bag.  I’ve just been out of sorts lately.  I don’t even have a reason.  And that irritates me even more, because that makes me a PWB.  That’s what we call The Genius’ dog, a Pathetic Whiny Baby.

So, I’m a PWB.  I can’t even run away to get away from myself. I’m stuck with me.

Yesterday, while I was being a bag, I decided to make a bag.  You know…do something useful, or at the very least, productive!

(Oh, great!  Now flickr decided to change everything up and it took me 10 minutes to load a photo.  I’m going to have to figure out an easier way to do this!  See???  I told you I’m a PWB!)

Anyway, I used this tutorial, and it worked great.  It’s a little bit small.  A fat quarter of fabric would be the perfect size!  I also need to get some heavier interfacing.

I won’t be buying any more of these box bags for my knitting projects!  It was really fun to make and took less than an hour.   (If you’re wondering, the lining is bright red!)   I’m sure that after I make a few more, I can pound them out pretty quickly.  I’m thinking I need to use some of the coated fabric to make a few makeup bags too!

I’m almost finished with the collar of my Cloud Chaser vest.  Monogamous knitting does not make for very interesting blog posts.  I had to resort to talking about being a PWB to have something to blog about!!!

You do know why they call it PMS, don’t you?  Because Mad Cow Disease was already taken.

And that’s not even my problem!  I’m just a PWB.

Aren’t you glad you stopped in for a visit???  Sheesh!!!  I’ll be back to my usual goofy self soon!

In the mean time, duck and cover!

  1. I am so there in the PWB department that instead of duck and cover I will probably volley right back

Mine is pain constant pain and a total feeling of uselessness!!! I want to go somewhere all alone and hide but I need the help right now with the bum knee, oh well enough whining!!

Love the bag, its so bright and cheerful!!

  2. It’s just that way sometimes, especially us women. Let yourself have a moment of PWB. Then brush yourself off and get on with it…. Love the bag!!!

  3. I love all your blog posts. Your content and pictures are great!

  4. Love your bag! Check out the dopp kit tutorial at Purl Bee also for a really useful bag (http://www.purlbee.com/the-purl-bee/?currentPage=2), too. I plan on making that one out of some really cute vintage-looking Dick and Jane fabric. Can’t wait to see your Cloud Chaser too. What shawl is sitting under your bag? I’m still on the hunt for the perfect beginner lace shawl and considering Traveling Woman but just not sure.

My friend would tell you to take some Advil and drink lots of water. It’s her cure-all for everything. Can’t hurt to try it. 🙂 My cure is an old movie and the couch so I can get lost in another world for a couple of hours.

  5. Go ahead and whine. There’s nothing in the least way pathetic about that, or you! Those of us who follow you know better! You are creative and have a high energy level. Sometimes you just have to take the low road. WHINE ON! And the bag is great.

  6. We’re all entitled to a whiny day. Make the most of it while you’re in the mood. Demand a foot massage and bonbons from the family.
I tried out a few of the box bag tutorials last week and found this one from the StacySews blog, http://www.stacysews.com/projects/tutorials, to have the clearest instructions and pictures so far. Give it a whirl.
    Cheers

  7. Great bag! Looks like a Wonder Bread wrapper.

  8. I think we all have our PWB days. Mine seem to be getting more frequent though.

I LOOOVVEE your (knitting) bag!! I’m sure you have lots of awesome quilting leftovers to make these with.

As always, I’m glad I popped in today – your posts always bring a smile to my face 🙂

  9. That bag is so cute – thanks for the link to the tutorial! 🙂

  10. We all need to whine or have a little breakdown every once in a while. I think it kind of does us good because something will come along to put everything in perspective and make us stop with the craziness. Life really is good.

    And so is the bag!

  11. I love your bag 🙂 It is super cute!!! I need to call Ms. Super Blonde — I didn’t realize I was going to completely lose track of time (and my mind) with 2 kiddos 🙂 Talk to you soon I’m sure.

  12. love the bag!

  13. Sometimes you just have to have a whiny “me” day. Keeps the family appreciating us for all the other days when we keep cleaning/cooking etc. with a smile on our face! Have a great day!

  14. Cute bag! I’ve made quite a few for gifts/orders, figures, none I’ve kept for me! Must remedy that! Oh..phew, glad to hear I’m not alone in the “feeling outta sortsness” I keep thinking it’s this horrid hot/humid weather. Makes me cranky as all get out!
