Passing Down Crazy

Because Sometimes the Best Thing You Can Give Your Kid is an Addiction…To Yarn

Sweet & Simple

I haven’t shown you either of the quilts I pieced at the retreat last week.

I purchased a bundle of Lily & Will fabric….somewhere.  This line is by Anne Sutton for Moda.  It also comes in a pink colorway and a blue colorway.  I think its so pretty!!!  The pattern is Sweet Cheeks by Ms Camille of Thimble Blossoms.  Its a bit different than the pattern because the yardage isn’t available yet and I wanted it finished.  I just did a piano key border rather than waiting and ordering fabric.

The contrast pieces are just strips sewn right on the squares with their raw edges just hanging out for all to see.  I’m going to put Minkee on the back of it and it will be a great snuggle quilt.  It would be a great quilt to make for a gift when you’re short on time, but still want to make something special for someone.

There’s another finished quilt top floating around my sewing room somewhere.  I also have a shawl blocking on my bedroom floor.  You’re going to have to wait until next week to see them, because we’re going camping again.

The kids don’t have school the next two days, so we’re heading out to do some school shopping.  (We haven’t done any of that yet this year!)  We’re also heading to the Minnesota Wisconsin border to check out all the spectacular color.  The forecast is great, and we’re going to go play!  If we happen to have internet access anywhere, you may hear from me.  Otherwise, I’ll see you next week!

  1. Just found you on Jaybird Quilts site – LOVE the name of your blog! Can I use that in my everyday conversation? Good stuff you got here.

  2. Beautiful quilt! I can’t get over the straight sewn lines. Maybe that’s why I don’t succeed at quilts; you have to have things lined up just so.

I visited my sister in Woodbury last weekend, and the drive was awesome! Coming from Central Wisconsin, I had 3 hrs to enjoy the colors. I especially loved driving through the hills in Menomonie. Not to mention I was driving alone. Playing music of MY choice. Sun shining all the way.

Enjoy the colors while you can – they won’t be around for much longer.
