Because Sometimes the Best Thing You Can Give Your Kid is an Addiction…To Yarn

Travels and Other Mischief

Yesterday was my travel day.  I left home at 7:30 AM.  I flew to Seattle, rented a car, and caught the ferry to Bainbridge Island.  My first stop was Churchmouse Yarn & Tea.  If you ever have a chance, make a visit to this yarn shop.  They’re friendly and helpful…and they have great yarn!

Some Koigu may have fallen into my cart.

I also bought some of that workhorse Brown Sheep yarn to make a couple of hats.

I got to the hotel at about 5 PM.  It was totally dark and rainy.  And the hotel was wonderful!  I was asleep by 9 PM.

This morning I woke up to this!

I finished a hat this morning.  I spent the plane trip yesterday working on a hat for My Hero.  I’m calling it “The Bald Guy” hat.  He has a huge noggin, so I was worried that it wasn’t going to fit.

I think it will fit!!!

And now I have a date with this.

My classes in the next few days all revolve around silk.  Knitting silk.  Dyeing silk.  Spinning silk.  I’m really excited to be learning, especially about spinning.  I’ll try to keep you updated each day, if I can stay awake at night to blog!

Have a great weekend, everyone!

  1. Funny how that yarn just leaps off the shelf and into one’s cart. That happens to me all the time!

  2. ohh Maria you are here again . . . so lucky that you got to go to Churchmouse That is my favorite store in the area, even if it involves the ferry! If you are back in town and have some time I would love to show you some other yarn shops – Weaving Works in the University District comes to mind, and/or Fiber Gallery on Phinney Ridge

Hope you’re having fun with that silk .

  3. Seriously nice Koigu! Lucky girl it attacked you like that! LOL
Can’t wait for more photos of your adventure.

  4. Oh my. Nice. I’d like your view instead of my suburban Cincinnati backyard full of dead leaves.

  5. Gotta love that familiar fireplace and view! Have fun and learn a lot!
