Because Sometimes the Best Thing You Can Give Your Kid is an Addiction…To Yarn

I have a terrible time coming up with interesting titles!  I guess today’s should be Stitching, Quilting, Knitting, and Laundry.  That title would have really grabbed you, huh?  Not so much.

I finished a knitting project and blocked it a week ago, but I’m not terribly excited about it.

I haven’t figured out how to wear it.  See that hunk hanging down?  That’s what it kind of looks like on me too.  I’ll have to play with a shawl pin to see if I can improve the look.  Otherwise it will add color to the pile of shawls in my cupboard.

Pattern:  Caireen, a free pattern from Knitty.

Yarn: Gaia from Blue Moon Fiber Arts.  Heavenly!

And then there’s stitching.  I’ve been digging through cupboards in my sewing room and finding all sorts of treasures I’d forgotten about.  I’m not big on hand work, but I found a project I’d started several years ago, and I still want it in my kitchen.

I’m thinking these happy little flowers and some coffee will do wonders for my morning!  I’m so not a morning person.

I’ve also got another quilt on the longarm.  I know!  That’s the second one this week!  And I’m jumping out of my box and not doing a panto on it.  We’ll see if I’m smiling or crying when it’s done.

My other fun project for the day is digging out the laundry room.  Everything has just piled up in there over Christmas.  You can’t even see my pretty washer and dryer.  Lets just say the red washer and dryer haven’t made doing laundry a lot more fun.  I do really like them though.

I’d better get back to the laundry room.  Break time is over!

  1. Your shawl is a great color. If it is one of the “crescent” shawls that Susanna IC designs (like the Hawthorne from Twist), to wear – put the middle of the shawl either under your chin or down your spine, throw each end around to hang down the side the middle is on – this gives you a double layer of warmth on all sides. You can also do the same by putting the middle of the shawl on one shoulder and wrapping so one end is in the front and one in the back.

Otherwise, I agree, the chunky bit looks a tad strange.

  2. LOVE the quilt pieces and can’t wait to see what it’s going to be. It’s so cheerful and fun looking. What’s on the Long Arm?
    The wrap is gorgeous.

  3. Hmm. I was thinking of making that but if it’s puzzling to wear, I’m not sure i have the patience for that. It’s beautiful though.
