Another Surprise!

I mailed a second package to Texas!  This quilt went to my sister.  It’s going to look much better on her bed with the oak headboard!

This is a quilt that was in process for a very long time.  I made the blocks and she put it together.  Here’s that story.  That was September, 2008.  Sometime after that, my sister and I figured out a pieced border for this huge quilt.

She pieced the border.  Take a look at the points.  They’re perfect.  She quilts about twice in five years.  Pretty amazing, huh?

The fabric is Kashmir by Moda.  I started out with a Fig Tree Quilts pattern, but quickly changed some things.

Here’s the quilting.

I’ve decided that the next time we get together (hopefully spring break!) that I need a good photo of the two of us.  I could have blackmailed her big time, because I have pictures of us fishing in Alaska, but that would have been mean.

I have a picture on the bulletin board in my sewing room.  It says,

“I smile because you’re my sister.

I laugh because there’s nothing you can do about it.”

I love you, sis of mine!!!

  1. Gorgeous! Love the pattern….love the colors….I’d like to sign up to be your sister!

  2. Yes, it is amazingly beautiful! Thank you for always helping me! A huge “Thank you” for the surprise! Now, though, do I have to make my bed? I love it!

  3. Beautiful quilt!

My sister and I have exchanged plaques/tapestries with that sisterly sentiment. In our case, I feel that the second part effects her the most! I’m the lucky one.
