It’s a gorgeous day here in sunny California!
First of all, The Genius’ eye surgery went really well! She slept for almost 24 hours straight, waking up long enough for dinner and some Advil. So yesterday we were off for her post-op appointment. The doctor was thrilled with the way her eyes looked. We thought that was kind of funny because they’re really red! Then we set out to find new glasses. At the second shop, we were successful.
The glasses are actually a deep plum. I think she looks amazing.
I’ve been getting lots of knitting done. I finished the Flyaway cardigan. I’m going to wait until I get home to block it, and then it will have its photo shoot.
I started my project with the Madelinetosh yarn I showed in the last post.
I’m still trying to figure out why the color is called Tomato. The pattern I’m using is Ashby by Leila Raabe. It was in the Brooklyn Tweed Fall 2011 collection. The construction is really different. The cables travel on the right side and are twisted on the wrong side. I thought it was really dumb at first, until I figured out why. It’s really pure genius!!! I’m really enjoying it now.
The Genius is liking how the color is popping on her teal couch. I may have to pick up a few more skeins. It would make gorgeous aran pillows!
The rest of today will include knitting (of course!) and probably a few hours of sitting by the pool. It’s only supposed to be 64 degrees, but it’s nice in the sun. And tonight, I may have to get The Genius out long enough to go for dinner. I”m thinking I should get lots of sleep the next few nights as well, because I’ve heard rumors that the laundry is piling up at home. They’re pretty good ad picking up after themselves, but there are somethings only the mom does! It’s a good thing I have job security!
