Good Grief! I haven’t done a post since September 25th. So what have we been up to? Well…
We hosted a Jr. High party. That’s my favorite age, you know. Not!!!
Four of us (not me, thankfully!) have had that 4 days of fever, nasty cough thing. Actually My Hero has been sick for eleven days now. Antibiotics are on board as of yesterday, so hopefully he will lose the daily fevers soon!
I’ve been spinning and knitting. I also cleaned most of the yarn out of our bedroom and created a space in the basement for it.
And…the most fun week of all! My mom, The Genius and I spent a week in Washington state at a knitting retreat. The first five days were in Friday Harbor with the fabulous Sivia Harding.
I pilfered this photo from the Lantern Moon blog. Notice the necklace? That was one of our classes. I’ll post a photo of mine soon. The emphasis of the classes was on using beads. I personally think most knitting projects should have beads!!!
It was such a blast doing something like this with three generations of women. We have a lot in common, but the knitting was an added bonus. As you can see, we laughed a lot too.
Take a good look, because I actually finished a knitting project this fall. My sweater is Vitamin D and the yarn is Sundara Fingering Merino Cashmere and it feels heavenly.
Mom and The Genius both knit the Radiance Shawl by Helen Stewart from some of my handspun yarn. The Genius will not be the recipient of handspun from me any more because she spins her own now!
Our knitting and class time was spent in a gorgeous log great room. Not too shabby, huh?
We were also graced by the presence of Sarah and Hailey of The Plucky Knitter. They had a bunch of gorgeous yarn with them. Of course I purchased some. Yarn is one of the comforts of life that doesn’t have any calories and it’s not illegal!!!
After five days of knitting, eating fabulous healthy food, riding the ferry just for fun, yarn shopping, laughing, and sleeping, we left the tranquility of Friday Harbor, and spent two days in Seattle. Mom and I went to a Manhattan Transfer concert, which was fabulous!!! We did a little bead shopping, more knitting, and visiting.
What a great week! The only thing that would have made it even better is if Superblonde would have joined us.
And now it’s time to knit for a little bit and just enjoy my perfect bedroom. It’s been a long time since it’s looked this uncluttered.
And….I even dusted and vacuumed.
