Because Sometimes the Best Thing You Can Give Your Kid is an Addiction…To Yarn

Loose Ends

I’m tying up some loose ends around here.  Here are some of them.

1.  I started this sweater for My Hero years ago.  I don’t even know how many years ago.  It must have been before 2007, because that’s when Ravelry started.  It’s a gorgeous sweater, and it needs to be finished.  When I pulled it out, the back was finished, and the front was almost there.  After studying the Vogue Knitting Magazine that was included, I came to the conclusion that I combined three patterns.  What that actually meant was that I had no idea what I was doing.  So I’m winging it.

The yarn is Debbie Bliss Cotton Denim Aran, which is long discontinued.  I can’t even tell you how much I love the way the neck is finished.  Sometimes winging it is the very best way to go!

2.  Quilting the quilt that’s been on my longarm since sometime early winter.  I really want the Christmas quilt off my bed, and I want a new one on it.

I just got some new Pandora ideas from my brother, so I’m headed downstairs to finish it!

3.  I hung a clock in my dining room that has been leaning against the wall for a month.  This one is a fail!!!  It’s too low when it’s hung on the existing picture hook and I don’t like the clock.  Any bets on how long it will hang there like that?

4.  Finish piecing the quilt from our retreat last week.  I’m not sure I’m going to love this quilt, but I’m going to finish it before I decide.

5.  I cleaned up the chair in my bedroom that was piled high, yet again, with yarn and other miscellaneous junk.  My sidekick was thrilled after I finished.  Actually, she was sitting there because she couldn’t get onto my bed, where I was sitting.  (She’s sitting on a finished cardigan that I haven’t blogged.)

And then, in the midst of being disciplined about finishing, this started yelling at me.

It’s Plucky Singles in the Miss Manners colorway.  I don’t like single ply yarn, and I don’t think I’d ever wear it, but I want to knit it. Will somebody please buy this from me and save me from myself???    Sold!!!!!

So what precipitated the Great Finishing Race of 2014?  Well, the Olympics start in 6 days.  I’ve set knitting goals.  I have 16 days to accomplish those goals.  I’ll post more about my goals next week.  Anyway, if you’d like to participate in the craziness of knitting (or finishing) a cardigan during the Olympics, join me here!  You need to become a member of Ravelry, if you’re not already.  We have very few rules, and it’s a great way to get motivated.

Gotta go!  That quilt isn’t going to get quilted sitting here, blogging away!!!
