Passing Down Crazy

Because Sometimes the Best Thing You Can Give Your Kid is an Addiction…To Yarn

I’m On A Quest

It’s not a very noble quest, but something I need my butt kicked to do.

I need to finish some stuff.

So, yesterday I finished stitching the binding on my Valentine quilt.  I had a good visit with Frankie at the same time.  He was playing with his cars.

I like it.  I thought it was going to be too cute for my taste, but it ended up ok.  You can find the free pattern right here. I used a charm pack of Giddy by Sandy Gervais for Moda.   I was pleased with the hand quilting even though I don’t know what I’m doing.

After that, I consumed some coffee and hit the sewing room.  After a quick clean up, I decided to prove how organized I am.  It’s only January and I finished a Christmas quilt.  (We won’t talk about the fact that I started it in November.)

This pattern is from the book Simplify by Camille Roskelley.  I don’t remember the name of the pattern, and to look it up, I’d have to get out of my warm bed and walk all the way across the house to my sewing room.  The fabric is Figgy Pudding by Basic Grey for Moda.  I like the fabric a lot and would have liked to use larger pieces of it.  This pattern used a Honey Bun and two charm packs.  I made mine larger than the pattern.  I threw it on the railing last night and haven’t really looked at it so I haven’t decided if I like it yet.  I love, love, love the border fabric.

At about 9 PM, I decided to tackle one more project. Last fall I made a quilt for Dreamboy.  After finishing it, I realized that it’s not big enough for his big fat mattress.  I’m not sure why I’m bothering to make it bigger, because he thinks it’s girly.  Anyway, I made another 26 blocks to make it big enough.

Maybe I’ll put it on the bed when he leaves for college.  I like it and I’ll see it occasionally, because my longarm is in that room.

I feel like I had a very productive day.  I’m thinking I’m going to start digging in cupboards and go on a finishing spree!  I have a quilt on the longarm, so I’m at least moving forward.

Now I just need to do the same with my knitting!  I do have a finished shawl to show you, but I blocked it and it’s on the floor in my bedroom, which is really cold.  It’s just not drying very quickly.

I’m off to make more forward progress.  Or take a nap.
