Oh, Did We Celebrate!

We had a great 4th of July!  Our day started with an awesome church service.  My favorite part of Celebrate America at our church is when they do “Step In Time” and have anyone that has ever been in the Army, Navy, Air Force, or Marines come up to the front.  The audience just goes nuts, cheering all the brave men and women who fought for our country.  One older gentleman just wept.  It’s such a great opportunity to say thank you to all of these heroes!

Then there was food.  Oh, was there food!

We had ribs (duh!) potato salad, a green salad, and zucchini pie.  And Superblonde made dessert.

We ate until we couldn’t stuff any more in.  Then we hit the pool.

Frankie spent half of the day upside down.  He’s been doing flips off  the diving board since he was about 2 years old.  They also made a slip ‘n slide.

We ended our day with fireworks…on tv.  With a high-definition tv, both the Macy’s and Boston Pops fireworks are pretty amazing and we didn’t have to fight the crowds or the mosquitoes!

I had a good day on Saturday too.  I decided it was time to do a little quilting.

The fabric is called Summer Fun by Deb Strain for Moda.  I love all the cheerful prints.

I’m turning these strip sets into these:

This is Jelly Parfait by Fig Tree Quilts.  It’s not going to look anything like Joanna’s gorgeous quilt, but I think I’m going to like it a lot.

Gotta go!  It’s fairly quiet around here today, so I think I’ll go quilt for a while.  Happy 5th of July!
