Giveaway alert! Keep reading! The contest is now over. Thanks for stopping by!
I’m so tired that I feel like I have one gear. At least it’s not reverse! I know. It’s my fault. I’m too stupid to go to bed. But I got this done!
This is the third of eight quilts from the book Living Large 2 by Heather Peterson of Anka’s Treasures. (My goal is to make all eight quilts in the book.) It’s called Spanish Tiles. Here are two of Heather’s for comparison. I’ve teased Heather for years that I love to crucify her patterns. In this case, I think I did ok.
The fabric is an older line of Valori Wells’ called Sole. I would have loved to have some of those paisley fabrics! My favorite fabric in this quilt is the big floral with the lime green background!
And here’s one more shot for those of you who like things straight. This photo has one little addition to it. Just ignore him it.
And now for the giveaway! How would you like to win a fat quarter of the 9 florals in this quilt? That’s enough to make the center and the border. All you have to add is the background and a contrast. And that’s not all! Heather has offered to throw in a copy of her book, Living Large 2! Leave a comment by Sunday, July 31st at midnight central time, and I’ll have The Genius pick a number. (It’s her birthday on Sunday!)
My next project is cut and the piecing has commenced. I’m using Arcadia by Sanae for Moda.
I have a problem though. I don’t have border fabric for this quilt and it’s gone. I’m not finding it anywhere. If you have a couple of yards that you’d be willing to sell me, I’d be forever grateful! Just click on “Contact Me” at the top of the page and let me know what you have.
And now I’m going to hang out on my bed and play solitaire. I’m not going to get sucked into any projects tonight. I’m going to bed before 3 AM.
Maybe.

BEAUTIFUL quilt as always!!!! Happy Birthday to the Genius who shares a birthday with my nephew Daniel (also a Genius who was valedictorian when he graduated from Middle School last month). He will be 14 and one of the nicest kids you would ever want to meet. I’m proud to be his Aunt/Godmother :).
July 28, 2011 at 11:22 am
Love how the quilt turned out. The book sounds fantastic. I also know the feeling of looking at the clock and knowing the next day is going to be a problem. Like if I go to bed now and immediately fall asleep, how much sleep can I get before someone expects me to be up and semi-alert and functional.
July 28, 2011 at 1:07 pm
I love your fabric choices and I really, really want this book! Thanks for the great giveaway! Pick me! Pick me! 🙂

good luck! I ended up with an ugly green solid that is totally ugly on it’s own but looks AMAZING with this fabric (bought at Joanns)…
I am crossing my fingers–I really want this book and that fabulous fabric is a total bonus!

I love your version of Spanish Tiles. Those fabrics are so vibrant. I used Arcadia jelly rolls to make Heather’s pattern Opposites Attract from her book Sizzlin’ Sixties and wish I had purchased additional Arcadia fabric for the back. Good luck on your journey thru Living Large 2.
