Because Sometimes the Best Thing You Can Give Your Kid is an Addiction…To Yarn

It’s a Party!!!

Wow!  I can’t believe I’ve been blogging for two years.  That’s a lot of gabbing.  My daughter, The Genius, and I decided to start a blog two years ago because she was leaving for college and we thought it would be a fun way to stay connected.  Well, she got busy with school, and I became the sole blogger.  (Feel free to surprise us any time with a guest post, Genius!) Now I just facebook her or call her.

I remember how hard it was to put a photo on a post.  Then I had to figure out side bars.  There were so many things to learn.  It was all so confusing.  Now it’s just fun!  Blogging has provided some discipline for me.  (It pushes me to finish things, or y’all will think I’m lame!!!)  It’s also a way to journal my life.

So, it’s time to celebrate my two year blogiversary with a party and some prizes!!!!!  Hang on, the prizes are at the end of the post!  Patience, people!

First I have to show you what I’m working on!  A few weeks ago I finished my Waves of Alaska.  I’ve decided I love modular knitting and I love Noro yarn.  So I immediately started searching for a new project.  Here’s what I came up with!

I got the idea from a vest in Dazzling Knits by Patricia Werner.  I immediately started digging through the Noro Kureyon I’d acquired.  I’d had a vague idea at one time that I wanted to knit a Lizzard Ridge afghan, so I’ve collected some fun Noro colors.    I started knitting, and I’ve been totally addicted.

In case you’re wondering what it’s going to be when it grows up, it’s an afghan.   Right now, my afghan is big enough for the dog.  As much as I love Georgie, there’s no way I’m knitting her a blanket.  (A quilt maybe, but not knitting!)

I’m using six colors of Kureyon right now, and I think that will be good.  I’ve cruised around on ebay and purchased more yarn.  Some has worked great, and some is going to have to wait for the next project, whatever that may be.

I’m using Cascade 220 for the black and the orange and green centers.  As you can see from the photo, a good soak and blocking is going to do wonders for this thing!  You may be hearing about this project for a long time, because it’s going to take me a while.  I’m not likely to get sick of the colors though!

Ok, I’m back to the two year anniversary and the prizes.  I’m offering two prizes.  One for the knitters, and another for the quilters.  If you’re both (like me!) you’ll have to decide which one you’d rather win!

So, without further ado, I’ve chosen two skeins of Schaefer Anne for the knitters.  The colorway is Quilt Blocks.  If you’re not familiar with this yarn, It’s wool, mohair, and nylon.  You could make two pairs of socks or a gorgeous lace project, because you’ll have 1,120 yards of yarn to work with.  It’s not quite as bright as the photo.  (Have I mentioned that I’m going to learn how to run Photoshop?)

For the quilters I have 18 fat quarters of Daydream by Deb Strain for Moda.  That’s 4 1/2 yards of fabric, and it’s gorgeous.

So, here’s the deal.  Leave a comment and tell me which of my finished projects is your favorite.  There are tabs at the top of the page, so you can look at all the finished projects.  Or, you can just read the comments before yours and pilfer someone else’s idea!  That wouldn’t be as much fun though.  Also, let me know if you’d like to be entered to win the yarn or the fabric.  Leave a comment by Friday, August 14 at midnight central time.

So, tell me what your favorite project is and do you want to win the yarn or fabric.  Simple, huh?

Thanks for taking the time out of your busy life to read this crazy blog.  I’ve so enjoyed the interaction with people I would never have come in contact with any other way.  I’m having a blast, and hope to continue blogging for a very long time!

And now it’s time for a twenty minute power nap and then somebody has to feed these kids.  Um, I think that may be me.

  1. My very favorite and what led me to your blog the first time was your still unfinished Demask Kauni, but my favorite finished project is “Hydrangea” in that beautiful color with those beads. I still want to do it, but haven’t gotten up the nerve yet. I’m not a quilter, just a knitter so enter me in the yarn pool. I love your blog!

  2. I REALLY like the Eyelet Cardi because there is no way I could make that. In fact, I don’t think i could knit any project you make. How do you do it, laundry, meals and all of it?
Please enter my name in the quilt fabric drawing as i could make a project with that great fabric.

  3. Oh boy = this is a TUFF one! Being a quilter and a knitter … well, I would love to dive into the Schaefer..so please enter me as the knitter! You are the BEST Maria!
    Jody

  4. As far as finished projects, I like your Waves of Alaska. However, I am really fascinated by the afghan you are knitting currently. I would like to knit one like that. Years ago I did machine quilting, so I enjoy seeing quilting projects, but currently I am knitter.

  5. It was hard to decide, but I love the Panda Silk DK shawl. The colors and texture are amazing.
I would love to win the fabric, but either one would be fun.

  6. How can I pick just one??? The shawls are beautiful and I love all of those. But, I’m going for the eyelet cardi. I am ready to knit one myself and yours is lovely.

    Happy Blogiversary from another Minnesotan.

  7. Oops, forgot Part Deux. Knitting pool, please.

  8. I’m in awe of so many of your projects — but the eyelet cardi is definitely the one I wish I could do myself. But my knitting skills are pretty poor, so if I’m lucky enough to win, I’d love to have that fabric. Love the colors!

  9. My favourite finished project is your Lady Eleanor (I’m still hoping to make one of those for myself, one day!!).

Happy Blogiversary! I’d like to be entered into the fabric draw, please. 🙂

  10. You know, you left us with a difficult dilemma, and it was much harder than a strange trivia question.

Choose our FAVORITE project of yours? Oh. Considering I’m a self-confessed groupie of all your projects and your blog, that is a VERY hard thing to make ME do.

But I have to say now: my all time favorite is The Scarlet Moth Shawl (March 2009). You had the most FABULOUS posts making a “mystery” project in a winter setting with a ga-zillion young people around to feed and watch out for … and then compulsive night knitting to get the project done. It was a LOT of fun to “go through” it with you. In hind sight, I now know you probably subconsciously decided to do it to take your mind off the mundane things of that trip (been there, done that), like figuring out if there is enough toilet paper, milk, and dishwashing detergent around to keep up with things.

Seriously: CONGRATULATIONS and thank you for sharing your life and family, and …. Ms. Cutie herself, the Doggie Queen Ms. Georgie!!

Maryjo, who hopes to win some yarn!!

  11. Congrats on your blogversary! I LOVE your Hypoteneuse! I think we actually talked about this on Ravelry…yours is so bright and colorful and mine is made from natural colored alpaca…very bland…but I loved this pattern.

Obviously the yarn is what I am interested in 😉

  12. Happy Blogiversary! I should let you know, I stopped by quite a while ago because someone else linked to you…but I stayed for the reading because of your hysterical tagline! I really enjoy reading all of your posts and being inspired by your projects. While I admire all of your finished projects, but right now I especially like your eyelet cardi. Probably because I have been wanting to knit one myself. And because yours is such a perfect shade of green. I would like to be entered in the Fabric drawing. THANKS for having a contest, and such a fun blog!!

  13. Actually my favorite project you’ve put on your blog is your work in progress: your family. Keep making it your priority and your crowning jewel. It can change in moments as I’ve found recently. I do, however, like your knitting and quilting. I’m better at knitting than quilting so I’d like to be entered in the knitting. Although I do neither as well as you~Thanks again for letting us look into your life.

  14. All of your shawls are beautiful and your quilts make my jaw drop. But, I love the Noni Bad you felted with the Cascade 220. I was amazed at how fast you finished that.

I enjoy taking trips with you and your family and getting away with you to your motor home for some “me” time. I look forward to your posts to see what you’re up to.

Congrats on the Blog Anniversary and I look forward to another year reading about your good and bad days, your heaping laundry days, your messy house days, and your colorful garden shots.

The yarn is beautiful that you’re giving away, and yes, I’m a knitter.

  15. Congratulations on your anniversary! What a fabulous contest – I would love to win the fat quarter set! I’m going to be a rule breaker and pick two favorites… I LOVE the black/bright color combination in the fanciful flowers and it looks great where it is hung in your house and I also like the taupe/black quilt cause I’d love to know the pattern to make one myself.

  16. OMG Maria well I am always asking for your help on one of your projects. But I have to say that My favorite is the Wing Of the Month Blamket and Oh yah the most important thing I am a knitter. But I also loved your shawl that you just finished the alaska one and I have also started an Lizard Blanket along time ago for my son and Now maybe you will encourage me to finish it. But you are an amazing Knitter and Quilter and I can sew a lick.
I love reading your blog. It lets me know that I am not the only one that neglects the laundry and dishes to knit. But when it gets so high I know that it is time to put the knitting down and start the laundry.
Thanks for sharing your families lives with strangers. I get to take all the trips that I can’t afford with yours, Sue

  17. Happy Blogiversary Maria
I love your Charlotte’s Web shawl. It really pushed me to complete one that was stalled. When I first started knitting shawls I would stalk your blog to see how you wore the beautiful ones you made. So thanks for all the modeled photo shots and now I wear every shawl I make- even if it’s with pj’s!!! Please enter me for the yarn- although the fabric would make a great quilt for my sun room.

  18. Happy blogiversary! I found your blog through moda bake shop. I love that site! I am a quilter and a knitter so I love everything you make, but my absolute favorite is buttercup. I plan on making a quilt similar to this for my daughter once she outgrows her crib and moves into a big girl bed. I would like to win the fabric. That is one of my favorite fabric lines! I actually have a charm pack of that line and I’m planning on making a patchwork dress for my daughter just like the one in crazymomquilts.blogspot.com. Thanks so much for the giveaway! Congratulations on your blog anniversary!

  19. I love the giggles hat. I am a quilter and just started knitting. I love all your projects. You make knitting look so easy. LOVE ALL OF YOUR STUFF. Either prize would be great….. Just curious, what are your favorite knitting needles to use??? I have tried wood, now trying the metal.. also just now trying circular….

  20. Happy Blogiversary! ALL your finishes are fantastic but I’m blown away by the shawl – especially Hyrna Herborgar !! That one is truely a work of art. My choice would be the yarn for a shawl for my sister!!

  21. love your projects! I’m in for the quilting and I have to say that the funky quilted binder cover pulled me in with its scallops (not to mention the wonderful colors and patterns!)

  22. I love all your projects Maria. You do beautiful and inspiring work. For the contest however I will choose your eyelet cardi (I’m still working on mine but I fixed the under arm with your suggestion which worked perfectly for me!) I also love your hero’s sweater and all of your shawls and lacework. I’d love the yarn! Thanks for the party.

  23. I would pick the Damask sweater, but it’s not exactly finished is it? Oh wait, does pointing out that fact get me cut from the contest?

  24. Happy Anniversary! You are such an inspiration to me watching you make and finish all these projects. Maybe some of your finishing projects will rub off on me someday. 😛

My favorite project of yours is the Koigu Shawl II. I have a thing for Koigu and I followed your progress as you worked on that one. It came out just lovely!

I’m also anxiously awaiting your Kauni sweater! 🙂 Here’s hoping to many more anniversaries on this blog!

  25. I love your work — your Damask Kauni brought your blog to my attention.
I have to say that the recent Silk Garden Lite Fan Shawl captivated me — so much so that I have started my own.

I am a quilter and knitter (another reason I love to read your blog).
I am blessed with a huge stash of both fabric and yarn, so I will leave the prize winning to someone else.

Just wanted to congratulate you on your ‘blogiversary’ and thank you for many hours of reading pleasure. It is a treat to get a glimpse into your happy (if sometimes a little crazy) life.

    kath

  26. Wowee, prizes! I really love your Noro’s next top model (aka waves of alaska). That is just stunning, and I think it’s my fav…I’d love to win the yarn if my name gets drawn. Happy Blogiversary! Your blog is very impressive…

  27. My favorite is your Brigid scarf from Sept 2008. I love to visit your blog and see what colors you are working with. Your color sense is wonderful!! Please enter me as a quilter.

  28. hello! congratulations on two years! I found my way to your blog through quilting but I also love your knitting projects! My favourite/s would be the silk garden spiral hat from 2008 and every single pair of your socks… I collect socks, have far too many and need more! *lol* Please enter me as a would-be-knitter! toni 😀

  29. OMGosh! It’s been over a year since I found your blog! All your projects are beautiful, including quilts that I know nothing about (I don’t even sew!) Of course, I have even more WIPs that I had a year ago! The project that lead me to your blog is your Mr. Greenjeans. I remember what a perfect match that button is to Wild Oak. Because of your sweater, I also chose Wild Oak for mine. Yep – I started it over a year ago and I haven’t even gotten to the cables yet! Happy anniversary!

  30. I have always wanted to knit socks, so of all your finishes those are the ones I am most in awe of. Especially since my knitting skills are non existant. But I also love the purse Thelma’s day out. I tried to find the pattern here in the US, after seeing your purse again I may have to begin searching anew.

Since the yarn would just sit on a shelf, I would love to be entered into the fabric drawing. Congrats on 2 years of blogging

  31. Hmmm. That’s a toughie. I’m so glad to have known you here…

it’s either Hyrna Herborgar, or Hydrangea. But then again .. the black cashmere of flirty ruffles… or scarlet moth…
ARGH! Choosing is too hard. Do we really have to choose just ONE? I’m feeling rather proud of having narrowed it down this far. I think … Hyrna or Hydrangea.
And, though I’m sure you know this, I’m in it for the yarn.
(And to harass you for your silence on Ravelry of late).

  32. Ah, I am both a knitter and a quilter too! I really like your buttercup quilt. The bird and flowers are just too cute! While I loooove the yarn, I think I’m going to have to go with the fabric on this one. 🙂

  33. I started reading your blog because you knit AND quilt (so do I) and I was curious about how you found time for both. I am NOT staying up until 3am, but I’m now back to quilting and my first love, cross stitching, in addition to the knitting and crocheting, because of you. Thanks! (My husband has other words, but there you go, he’s happy if I’m happy!). I love your Taupe and Black quilt, partly because it’s gorgeous, partly because I know how much time you spent getting it right. I’d like more fabric please (as if THAT stash isn’t big enough).
Love your blog!! Congratulations on 2 years!

  34. Waves of Alaska is my favorite of all your projects. I love the colors of your quilts, too. However, best of all is your sewing/craft room with the wild red wallpaper. Still Waves of Alaska is the project I choose.

Since I quit quilting in 1983, I would choose the yarn prize. I’ve never knit with Schaeffer Anne.

  35. I found your blog through my Mom and have been reading for about a year. I LOVE seeing all of your projects, even though I don’t leave comments often. I love the fact that you call your husband your hero, and that you are still happy and content together. It is a nice role model for my husband and I. I am really a crocheter, but have recently begun trying my hand at knitting, so I would absolutely LOVE to make the Miralda shawl someday. Maybe I will win the yarn and get a chance! LOL How do you get it all done? I barely get to sleep! But, most of all – I love seeing your family. It reminds me so much of mine, doing things together and loving to be together. Treasure it, and love it. Family is the most precious gift we have, and I recently learned just how precious it is.

  36. Oh, so hard to pick just one of your beautiful projects, but I adore Waves of Alaska. I am determined to attempt it. Please enter me for the lovely Schaefer Anne. I, too, am amazed at how many projects you finish! Your blog is a constant source of pleasure and inspiration. Happy Blogiversary!

  37. Happy blogiversary! Phew, having to pick a favorite among your projects is really hard. I love you scarfs, especially the hydrangea. The soft colour, it looks so, so soft to touch. But then there is that cute Bethany Jumper you made, which I adore too. I still want to make something like that for my little girl, but haven’t just yet found the courage to start 😉
Thank you for giving us the chance to win. I would really like to win the fabric, talking about pretty colour combinations..!

  38. Congratulations! I love many of your FOs, but for voting, I’ll go with the Flirty Ruffles Shawl. Please enter me for the yarn (though I quilt too!).

  39. That is just insanely cool.

  40. Congratulations! I am a quilter and would love to win the fabric but my favourite finish is Trevi. I know you said it is easy but I dont think I will attempt it. Thanks for the giveaway

  41. I love all of your projects. I don’t sew/quilt so I really like them, especially the Faniciful Flowers Quilt. I have been reading your blog for quite awhile………love that you can get away once in a while by yourself and do your thing. What a great husband !
I would love to win the yarn

  42. As several other people have mentioned it is a tough decision! I’m not a knitter but that only makes your projects more amazing to me! I know you only asked for one but I picked one of each! My favorite knitting project is the Tevie shawl simple and beautiful! And the fabric project was, shoot I forgot the name, the black & white purse (someones day out 🙂 ) So pretty!

I would love to be entered for the fabric! Thanks for blogging it’s great to follow all your projects and fun!

  43. Right now I like the zig zag quilt because that’s the next thing on my list to make.

Happy Anniversary! I want the fabric!

  44. Happy blogoversary!

I’m de-lurking to comment. So far my favorite completed project is the neon string/rag quilt you posted earlier this month. I love how the model was smiling in the photo… Neon colors are happy colors. One of the joys of making things with love are the smiles these handmade objects create.

I’m a beginner quilter. Starting my first real quilt as soon as my fabric/supplies arrive.

Thanks for offering prizes to celebrate. Put me down for the fabric.

Here’s to more years of finished projects and for making people smile!
    :-D)

  45. Well, ha , how do I pick one, the eyelet cardi, the Alaskan special, your new project is grabbing at me………I love Noro too, what colours, I do have a box of 19 different skeins for the log cabin afghan but it isn’t grabbing me at the moment…………

Congrats on two fun filled years, seems they were for you too………hope there is many more……

I am interested in the fabric , but beyond that I so enjoy you……….

  46. Hydrangea! Hands down favorite! It’s what drew me to your site and made me start to knit it….needless to say I’m not as fast as you. I have you on the daily sites I check. As a fellow homeschooler, mom of 5, doing a lot of the same transition stuff as you, knitter and quilter, it is quite easy to relate to the things you do and say. Your wit makes me laugh a lot and takes some of the stress away to know that others are out there doing the same things I’m doing. Happy Blog Day and keep it up. Love the yarn…..Love the Fabric…..yarn….fabric…..yarn…..fabric…..not an easy choice……aaaaawwwwww…..Fabric! Take care. Thanks for a great read!

  47. I love your Hypotenuse and Waves of Alaska. I also love seeing your quilts. I love that you knit and quilt. I knit and want to learn about quilting, so you are the prefect blog read! Your prizes are tough to pick between… I think I will go with the fabric, I am not sure I get along with lace just yet!

  48. Congratulations on your blogiversary and at your FOs. I’m always amazed at your FO rate. I wish I could finish things as quickly as you – and to such a high standard.

Tough choice but I think it’s the Waves of Alaska shawl. I’m a BIG fan of Noro and think it fits the modular knitting of that shawl exceptionally well. And the colours…. just scrummy.

As an avid knitter, if I were to win, I’d like to be in the knitting competition. I’d even pay for the yarn to be shipped to the UK!

  49. Love, love Waves of Alaska and your pinwheel quilt.

You are a prolific grrl!! 🙂

  50. You do such lovely work, it’s so hard to choose! The project of yours that I can’t stop thinking about is the two colour quilt. It is so gorgeous! I’m a knitter but lately I’ve started sewing so I would love that fabric.

    Happy blogiversary!

  51. I found your blog when someone else mentioned your Koigu Irish Diamond shawl on theirs. I fell in love with it and dreamed of making one, but haven’t done so, at least not yet. A more recent project that I’ll call my favorite (though it’s impossible to choose just one!) is the taupe and black quilt. It’s rich, and just exquisite! I admire all your beautiful work, and the number of finished projects you put out is unbelievable!! Congrats on your two years of blogging!! Please enter me in the quilting pool.

  52. My favorite is Gettin’ Ziggy With It. Which is the quilt that lead me to your blog!!!!!!!!! I love the Zig-Zag and I can’t wait to be able to start one! Hopefully it’s soon! I’d like to win your gorgeous fabric! I love your choices in colors! That’s my favorite thing about your projects: the colors! You inspire me to look at different colors then I normally would! Congrats on the two years! Thanks for all the great ideas!

  53. Congratulations on your 2 years of blogging. I enjoy reading your posts and seeing your beautiful knitting. I love your as yet unfinished Damask Kauni. It’s amazing and I can’t figure out how you knit it but I’m a very lame knitter so if you choose my name I would love the fabric. It looks perfect for a project I have in mind.
    Cher in BC

  54. I have loved checking on your blog for the past two years! I too both knit and quilt so I have fun seeing all your projects. I’d have to say my favorite is the Scarlet Moth. I would love to make one myself! I love all things Noro too so I understand your recent projects. I made a Lizard Ridge myself last year- lots of fun!
I could go for either the fabric or the yarn, but I’ll put my name in for the yarn.

  55. I have enjoyed reading your blog and looking at your projects since I found it last summer. I went back and read all your posts and feel a kinship with you since I also have 5 kids, quilt and knit. You are much more prolific than I am in the amount of projects you’ve accomplished. I especially like your shawls, the lacier the better! I liked your beaded Swallowtail and your Hydrangea from last summer. I have also enjoyed looking at your quilts and have similar taste in colors.
If I win a prize, I’d prefer the yarn 🙂

  56. Your Hydrangea stole inspired me to order the pattern and make my own. Your yarn choice was just gorgeous and I was excited to try beading for the first time.

  57. oh yeah, the yarn please!

  58. My queue on Rav looks a lot like “The Ghosts of Maria’s Knitting Past” – so it’s hard to pick a favorite.

But since I must – I’ll say it’s the Hypotenuse – since it is the one I went immediately to buy the pattern for and cast on.

  59. So many lovely projects, how to choose a favorite. I will say the Sweet Baby Jane quilt, so scrappy and happy, it just speaks to me.

I would love to b eentered for the fabric, can never have enough fabric!

    Congrats and thanks.

Sue Cahill (sbonetsue at yahoo dot com)

  60. I love everything…but your Rebel Roses quilt is probably my favorite. Since I can’t knit I’m just in awe of all of your knitting projects as well. Those Deb Strain fabrics are wonderful…I’d love to win those! Happy Second Blogiversary!

  61. tough one. Sweet Emma Rose I guess, although the entrelec shawl is pretty darn cool too. Found you via your Kauni Damask sweater on Ravelry last summer. Thanks for sharing your knitting/quilting and life. Please enter me in the quilters contest, another tough choice, but I really don’t need anymore sock yarn, really. Probably.

  62. I am in love with both your Trevi Shawl and your rag quilt. I just melt when I look at the color of your shawl. Ahhhh…green! Your rag quilt is inspirational to get me back into quilting. Haven’t made a rag quilt since my last GS was born…too many years ago. I wouldn’t care which prize I win. I would appreciate either. Thanks for your inspirational sharing.
    Andi

  63. Hi,
I would dearly love to win the wool, as I can knit much better than I can quilt. I would love to get my hands on that beautiful yarn because New Zealand just doesn’t stock that kind of loveliness. I can only get regular wool and I am bored! I want to try my hand at knitting Ysoldas little shawl, your scarlet moth is my favourite project, but I think it would be a little too hard to start with so I will start with something smaller and work up to it! Thanks for the opportunity : )

  64. all beautiful but Trevi wins, hands down!

  65. 63 comments already!!! You are a popular lady, I have to say my favorite project of yours is your Koigu Irish Diamond Shawl, I have all my koigu purchased but I haven’t begun it yet but one day I definitely will, I saw that shawl, came to your blog and have not left since!!! All of your projects are sheer inspiration to me Congrats on 2 years, and if I should by some slim chance win I would love the yarn but you knew that already!!!!

  66. Congratulations on two years of beautiful and inspiring projects. My favorite is the Hyrna Herborgar shawl but it was very difficult trying to narrow it down to just one. As a confirmed and hard core knitter, I would love to get my hands on the yarn.

  67. Congratulations on 2 years of blogging! Being new to your blog I had to do some backtracking from where I did enter into your world, and I have a confession to make: I can’t decide on one favorite. So I will narrow it down to your 2009 finished projects. My favorite quilt project: Fanciful Flowers; and a knit project toss-up: Miralda’s Shawl and Waves of Alaska. Whew! Glad that part is over.

Since I still have no idea what I’m doing with yarn, I would take the fabrics should I win.

    Thanks for the party 😀

  68. Love to quilt & knit. Just not enough time to do both as much as I would like. Your shawls are very wonderful & your socks like way to much fun. But for the quilts “Monterey Medallion” won my heart. So if by chance, it would be the fabric as I tend to get just a little more of the quilting done than of the knitting & beside’s would look great for my son & his family.
    Thanks much

  69. My favorite finished project of yours is the Caricia shawl. I love the color, and I love Ann Hanson. Maybe I’ll knit it myself one day… once I’ve gotten through my stash. I’m a knitter not a quilter (yet…) so if I were lucky enough to win, I’d choose the yarn.

And thank you, Maria, for taking time out of your busy life to keep us entertained with your adventures!

  70. Okay, I’ve reviewed them all. If I were to pick a knitting project, I would pick one of the shawls. But since I’m sort of a has been in knitting, I think Fanciful Flowers Quilt gets my vote. I would of course like to be thrown into the pool of people wanting the fabric. And of course, I too, like to read your blog.

  71. I would have to say that I like both of your Mr. Greenjeans sweaters! That sweater is in my queue.

  72. Well I’m a knitter and a quilter so although the decision might seem hard there really is no contest – I LOVE THE Damask Kauni. I know it doesn’t fit you but OMG It’s beautiful!!!

That said I think I’d really love the fat quarters! I’ve just started quilting again after too many years to mention so they would be a welcome addition to my growing stash!
    Tora

  73. Happy blogiversary! I’ve enjoyed you since day one and Lexi (age 18) inspired me to knit my first lace shawl this summer…I’ve loved every minute (well, almost every minute!)! Choosing a favorite is like being a child (or adult!) in a candy shop…too many beautiful things to choose from. I’m a knitter and your Wing of the Moth shawl is right up there with some of my very favorites. I would love this beautiful yarn to knit another lace shawl (really a prayer shawl) for my dear son-in-law’s mom who has just been diagnosed with breast cancer. She has a long road ahead of her, and the Wing of the Moth shawl would certainly provide a large hug and many prayers to surround her on her journey. Not to mention it would also help to keep her warm during our New England winter! Her surgery is scheduled for Spetember 2…I know I could finish it in time if I do a knitting marathon!

Thanks so much for inspiring and sharing…I never miss an entry! God bless and happy knitting!

  75. It is hard to pick! You’ve done so many really nice things. I do like Hyrna Herborgar. Different! I guess put me in as a knitter. My sister is a quilter and if I knew she would love those fabrics (I do!) I would say, put me in the quilters and I’d pass it on. I do think, that her tastes are too far in the pinks for your lovely turquise.

    Thanks for blog fun,

    Gerri

  76. I really like all of your projects. I think it is to hard to choose a fav! But I would love the fabric. I just learned to sew and I need to start stashing fabric now!

  77. My favorite project is “Gettin’ Ziggy With It” I would love to win your fabric. It fabulous!
Thanks for putting my name in your drawing.

  78. I still love your damask kauni – it was such an inspiring piece of knitted art…Your fabric is nice but I am not (yet) able to sew 😦 … so I could only work with the yarn

    Greetings from Bavaria

  79. your quilted binder cover!! cause its how i found you.. and your Neptune quilt.. b/c we know i love that one too!.. and fabric please.. i haven’t learned how to knit yet!!

  80. Ooooo, prizes and the comments are out of control!
While I was trawling through all your finished items, my chin kept dropping, dropping…what a productive girl, Maria is! Kudos to you. I am a simpleton and love the Eyelet Cardi. Believe me, it was hard to chose! I also love the Damask cardi, my first intro to your blog.

  81. I really love all your projects – both quilting and knitting. I really like the Bluebonnet Trail quilt – simple design, but so striking with the touch of applique in the center and the on-point setting. I also drool over the knitting projects, but unfortunately I only know the two basic knitting stitches….so please enter me into the quilting drawing. Congrats on your 2 year anniversary!

  82. Happy Blogiversary!!!! I am always inspired and awed at your work and I thank you for sharing with us. It is very hard to pick just one of your projects as a favorite. Your lace knitting is so beautiful I would drive to Minnesota just to see them live. I must say the one that makes me drool every time is an unfinished one, the Damask Kauni. Although I would love the directions for Mike (I know that was not yours but still a blog co-founder) I am not a quilter so I would like to be in the win-fab-yarn-group. Friday is my birthday, can I move to the front of the line?!!!

  83. your best project is your five kids. And I love your knitting too! Happy bloganiversary!

  84. Wow, it’s hard to decide which of your projects I like the best! Since I’m a quilter and would love to win the fabric I would have to choose Monterey Medallion. Thanks for the great giveaway and all the inspiration.

  85. Hands down favorite is Waves of Alaska…AWESOME Shawl! Love the pattern, love love the yarn, love the color.
I love the yarn but I am a fabricholic. Want. More. Fabric.
    diana

  86. Girl, that yarn is like a siren calling out to me!

Favorite project? That’s a hard one. Your knitting is all so lovely. I would have to say either your Glorious Koigu (Irish Diamond Shawl) or your Damask Kauni (Kauni Rainbow Caridigan).

I haven’t done much reading in the blogosphere this summer. I’ve been caught up in finishing my new soaker pattern. Now that it’s finished, I thought I’d come take a look at what you’ve been up to. I love having a look at your latest projects, and you always manage to make me laugh. Your daughter and the helmet! Major LOLing going on over here! I must remember that for when my almost 16yo starts driving!

    peace~

  87. Happly Blogiversary! I love contests and drawings. So cool of you to do this. My favorite project of yours is clearly Miralda’s Shawl. It’s really some beautiful work and a lovely color. Please enter my name for the stunning yarn you are generously giving away. Thanks so much!

  88. No way this is simple! Pick my favorite project of yours? That’s HARD!

Favorite quilting project: https://passingdowncrazy.wordpress.com/2008/11/16/bigger-is-betterright/ This is the project that hooked me on reading your blog.

Favorite knitting project: It’s a tie between the Scarlet Moth and your Medallion Bag!

I’d love either prize but that fabric is GORGEOUS! Drool!

Happy Blogiversary! I love, love, love reading your blog!

  89. Your Waves of Alaska really caught my fancy! Absolutely gorgeous, as was the scenery in your Alaska photos.

As I’ve mentioned before, your blog always makes me smile. Thanks for all the time you put into it.

If I were to win, I’d love that yarn.

Are you homeschooling again this year? This one is our last….Two sons down, one senior daughter to go. Whew!

Barb G in Northern MN where it is a lovely 83 degrees–finally!

ps- if i have to choose…fabric!

  92. Congratulations on two years!

It’s really hard to choose, but I think my favourite is your Ene’s Scarf. I’d love a chance to win the yarn.

  93. Going through your finished objects of the past two year does not make it any easier to pick a favourite! Can’t I just pick all the shawls because each one is absolutely stunning?
    Congratulations!

  94. Hmm, I am going to cheat, I have two favorites. I love the Big Bang Wrap and the Waves of Alaska. I love all the color. I’d love a chance to win the yarn.

  95. Wow, this is easy! While doing my research for the Swallowtail Shawl, I came upon your Swallowtail Shawl II. Immediately added it to my favorites. It’s still there, because it is still a favorite. Absolutely beautiful. I’m pretty sure that at the same time that I faved the shawl, I discovered your blog. I’ve been enjoying ever since. I’ll never forget the blog about the white blouse and Reba — I shared this with friends. Keep up the great work. A former quilter, I am now a knitter, so I’d be interested in yarn. Thanks for the opportunity.

  96. I enjoy your blog so much! Congrats on the 2 year mark!

It’s so hard to pick one favorite – so I will give you my top 5:)

    Mr. Greenjeans – Wild Oak
    Swallowtail Shawl with beads
    Langsgalid Barur
    Pinwheel Quilt
Moda Bake Shop Binder (I really want to make one of these!)
Buttercup (this might actually be my favorite)
Waves of Alaska (just beautiful – I want to make one of these too)

Even though I am both a knitter and quilter, I would prefer to be entered for the fabric. Thanks for doing this and for blogging about your beautiful projects and family.

  97. whoops, I said I was going to give you top 5 and I gave you 7…just couldn’t stop!

  98. I haven’t been reading you blog long but I love your Panda Silk eyelet shawl you knit with Noro.It s just so gorgeous!Your rag quilts are adorable too! I would like to win the yarn if you pick me.Thanks!

  99. I love all your quilts, but my fav is the Rebel Rose quilt. It is a beautiful line of fabric and I just love the pattern you used! I know nothing about knitting but you make it look like a snap!! All your knitted projects look so professional. I would like to be entered for the beautiful fabric! Thanks for sharing all your projects with us!

  100. I love your blog as I get to see more pictures of my grandkids this way! YOu don’t need to put me in the contest as you just gave me some beautiful handmaiden sea silk.

  101. Well, really this is probably your favorite niece in the entire world. My favorite project on your blog would have to be the Waves of Alaska, although every project that you do is amazing.

Have you happened to notice the colors of the of pieces of un-sewn quilt that you are offering for a prize? They are the exact colors of my bedroom and I would really like to follow in your footsteps and become a crazy quilter lady.

You must have chosen these fabrics with me in mind. So I would love to enter the contest for the fabrics with my name already on the back of them.

    I love you! (dearly) ernie

PS. your home was lovely and the cooking was delicious!

  102. Hi Maria, I have to say that I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your Waves of Alaska. It is the project that caught my eye just a few weeks ago and I have already started one of my own ( I haven’t gotten very far). Noro has been a longtime favorite of mine and I am always looking for new projects where I can use it. That is how I stumbled upon you and your blog 🙂 I’ve made a felted bag based on the Lizard Ridge using Noro. I plan on making the African Adventure Bag which is similar to your most recent project. Being a knitter I would like to be entered for the yarn. Thanks for having a blog that ALWAYS makes me smile and for being such a breath of fresh air!!!

    Peggy

P.S. I think it goes without saying that ALL of your projects are BEAUTIFUL and I am sure an inspiration to many.

  103. Happy Blogiversary Maria! I enjoy reading your blog and I really love your My Hero Sweater! It is gorgeous! Of course all your knits are wonderful. I also love the beautiful fabrics! Wow, what fun!!!

  104. Hmmm…that’s a really tough one. I’ve been enjoying your blog for some time and always love your projects and yarn/fabric choices. You’ve inspired me to try my hand at lace, but I think my favorite FO is the hero sweater. It’s really fantastic!

I’d love to get my hands on the fabric 🙂

  105. Oops! Just realized today’s the 15th…

  106. I am SOOOO late to the party, but I’ve been on vacation from home and blogging, so I have a good excuse. Just to let you know….when I came back, yours is the 1st blog I looked at 🙂
If I limit myself to 2009 finished knits – I’d have to say…. Miralda’s Shawl is my favorite, but it’s not an easy choice with all of the other gorgeous knits (*Loksins – I LOVE those too) and quilts!
I’ll pick the yarn (my fabric stash is exploding already!)
PS – you started almost exactly one year after me – my 3 year is this month
